Re: PCV-LX920 BOOT DISK FAILURE!!! Caps??



Yes, I know. I took one my computers apart about 6 months ago and did a lot of small resoldering work, it seemed it only helped for a day or so, then it repeated the problem, and today, my shop computer started doing the same problem. (Same model Sony PCV-LX920)

I DID look at the caps visually when I did the resoldering work on the Home computer but saw no problems, I may have even ESR'ed them, but it was 6 months ago and I do not remember. Now our shop computer is starting the same problem. Sure sounds like...

...I own Qty (2) Sony PCV-LX920 Computers. Purchased them Aug 2001 and have been using them daily ever since.

...Both computers are experiencing the SAME problem at about the SAME time now. When I turn the computers on I am getting the following below;

"DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"

...Sometimes it will Boot up fine after a few tries. Both are doing same thing and both computers will finally boot up if you keep trying.

...Is this a bad cap on the motherboard issue???
