    Thanks for your replies. I found a link to the service manuals on this forum. Hopefully that can help me identify what caps I need to order. I also found retiredcap's guide for troubleshooting. I'll see how far I can get. Hopefully it's just the capacitors.

    After putting the back cover back on, the problem is back, tho it might be slightly different. The sound keeps cutting out at first and then the TV shuts off. SO far I've only tested the Cable box via HDMI1. I'll be testing the DVD player and HDMI2 and maybe component later.

    One thing I'm noticing is looking through the small holes in the back panel I see a tiny red light on one of the other boards. Not the "off" light that shines at the bottom. This one is at the top of one of the controller boards. It's just below and to the left...

    ok. Here are some pics from the front of the power board. Definitely can see some raised caps. I had the unit plugged in all night and ran it for a couple hours this morning. It continues to turn off and on without and sign of problems....

  • LG 50PC1DRA repair?

    I have 50" plasma I'm wanting to sell, and I have an interested buyer, but it has some history with "snapping" off. The TV is about 4 years old or so but was only used for about 3 years. The first symptom I remember seeing is that the TV would turn itself on very rarely. This happened within the first year of owning. I read on forums that this was a common issue with the TV so I didn't take it as anything more than a strange anomaly. Not being experienced in electrical circuits capacitors, etc. I didn't realize I should have had that checked out back then.
