Re: Samsung T240HD won't turn on
ah ok thanks for clearing that up, gotta go buy a resistor now. So basically, it is to trick the power board into turning on to giving power to the backlight right?...

Re: Samsung T240HD won't turn on
by connector do you mean the connector that connects the ON/OFF button to the logic board? how do I know which pin is the ON/OFF pin? There are two markings on the connector. There is a green dot on the connector, and a black mark on one of the cables.
or did you mean the ON/OFF on the power board?...

Re: Samsung T240HD won't turn on
I was thinking of just buying a replacement board if I can be 100% sure it's the cause of the problem. :\
all in all, this was a pretty fun/interesting experience, I am willing to see it to the end if I can....

Re: Samsung T240HD won't turn on
I'm sorry you feel that way. When I uploaded that picture I thought it was a faulty power board so I didnt even take off the main board for a picture.
thanks for all your help so far, it was very helpful.
I've tested the voltage regulators (not sure if I found all of them). Most of the tests returned 0 except for the ones I marked in red....

Re: Samsung T240HD won't turn on
that picture of the board is a picture I found off ebay, don't worry I'm not testing it on a antistatic bag.
I've read the guide on testing the voltage regulator, I'm not sure what it means by "Put your black probe on a ground screw". Does it mean I can just put the black probe on any large metal object? I'm not getting any readings out of any voltage regulators....

Re: Samsung T240HD won't turn on
they are close to 0 now. might have seen the 15v jump to 1v a couple of times....

Re: Samsung T240HD won't turn on
finished testing, as marked, one returned 15v and two returned 5.2v
all others are 0

ahhhh that makes so much more sense, thanks!
I'll get on it and report back....

Re: Samsung T240HD won't turn on
updated the results.
I thought the main board was the board with all the inputs >.>
Perhaps it's best to explain everything in Layman's, my knowledge on these things are very limited.
and I've tested the fuses, they are fine. 0.25 ohms on both
thanks for all the help!...

Re: Samsung T240HD won't turn on
ok I tested the other 9 caps, only one of them was reading 10v all others are reading very close to 0. (see attachment).
just to make sure, I tested by putting the red lead on the + side (marked on the board) and black lead on the other side.
the power board is connected to the main board, the main board is connected to the LCD that is a pain to remove so I didnt bother with it....Last edited by phx777; 01-06-2013, 03:44 PM.

I'm not exactly sure what this means... sorry...

Re: Samsung T240HD won't turn on
I tested the big cap (marked red below), the voltage is at 160. I dont see the list you are speaking of.
should I also test the other caps marked in the attachment? is that all of them?...Last edited by phx777; 01-06-2013, 02:37 PM.

edit: I think it's cuz the thread is too old... anyway, I uploaded the pictures here. If a mod sees this, feel free to remove the imgur links from above. thx
My Current Problem:
My Samsung T240HD turned off by itself about a month ago. I bought another power board off ebay thinking it was the defective part. I swapped it out and my electricity tripped. Great, defective replacement.
Now I'm thinking, could it be...Last edited by phx777; 01-06-2013, 12:31 PM.

Samsung T240HD - won't turn on
I created this other thread last month in regarding a broken Samsung T240HD. Today I just got my new power board in, unfortunately it turns out to be defective and tripped my electricity...
now I'm wondering, could it be the main board that's broken and not the power board? My monitor just turned off by itself one day with no obscure flashing or sound. Now it doesn't turn on, nothing happens when I press the power button.
how can I test whether or not it's the power board that's broken or the main board? I've tested the fuses and caps on my power board with a meter,...Last edited by phx777; 01-05-2013, 09:24 PM.

Re: Samsung T240HD won't turn on
I can obtain a multimeter in a day's time, and I have soldering equipment.
what else should I test?
and thanks for all the help so far!...

Re: Samsung T240HD won't turn on
I've just checked the 2 fuses by using a battery and a light bulb, they both work. what's this green torpedo you speak of? the 2 fuses are both white.
I'll try to get a better picture....

Re: Samsung T240HD won't turn on
well, the indicator light usually always fades away. I assume it's because some electricity still lingers inside the monitor when you yank out the power.
what's the most common cause for a monitor not turning on? I think I'm just gonna buy a power board, swap it, and return it if that doesn't fix it.
