I've been trying to get this TV working for some time now. I replaced the Y buffers and I repaired all of the bad capacitors. I went through and checked all the solder points and cleaned the boards.
Last time I messed with it, the PSU would turn on and then click twice and turn off. I got it to the point where now the error LED just blinks 12 times to indicate a DC12v error. However, it only occurs when I have the white ribbon cable plugged in (marked with red X in the photo).

Testing & Repairing a Y-Buffer board
I know that the upper and lower Y-Buffer boards have something wrong with them. When they are plugged in I get a D12V error code. When I leave them off, there is no error.
What exactly goes bad, the surface mounted ICs? How do I test these boards (other than plugging them in)? Do I need to replace the ICs to repair the board? That's an obvious, kind of dumb question but I have to ask.
I'm not to keen on soldering surface mount IC's with 60 pins but I also don't want to sped $150 on new boards.
