• Re: Panasonic TC-P42X3

Hooray - kind of... got the SS board in the mail today. Installed, and I finally have an image! However, i'm getting Horizontal lines as seen in the attached pic.

Is this an SS board issue, since it's the x-sustain? Please direct me!

The lines appear across all inputs that I can test. Even when there is no input & I'm in the menu the lines appear....

Took your advice & ordered the board. It's installed, but didn't bring it back to life.

Upon plugging it in, I just get 2 clicks followed shortly by a third click. The light on the front of the TV stays a steady red & pressing the power button changes nothing.

I upon checking P6 on the Power Supply I get:
P_M_ON = 3V
S1 = 0
S0 = 0
SOS = 3
STBY5V_ON = .05V
STBY5V = 5
F_STBY_ON = 3
Everything else is 0

What do I do next?

Panasonic TC-P42X3

Kids were playing with the plugs on the power strip when the TV made a loud pop!

I've identified what I think is the source of the pop sound. It looks like a blown component on, what my research shows as, the SN board/Y Sustain/Y Main.

I've also seen the board referred to as: TNPA5311AC / TXNSN1PPUU / TNPA5311AE

The only visible sign of failure is the component labeled D722. Problem is, I can't identify the component because it blew off all identifying markings.

Can someone provide me with what this component is and its stats? It has...

I opened up my HP L1940T expecting to find a bad cap but it was nowhere to be found, everything I could test read as it should. Thank you badcaps

Simply refreshing the solder joints worked like a charm. My board didn't indicate BenQ, but the same solution worked for me just the same.

Since I have a pair for dual screen setup I'm thankful that I didn't have to replace two screens. Most Awesome.Re: Hp 1940 flicker

I...p my HP L1940T

I don't remember anything special about opening this one up... Once you take all the screws out, it's handy to have some plastic pry tools if your concerned about marring the edges of the TV.

So I found a complete set of boards on eBay for $100 harvested from a new identical model with a broken screen. I started by replacing the inverter board, and all is well. If anyone needs the power, video, or digital video board, let me know.

Whatever I thought I had done to the power board apparently didn't effect its functionality, because everything is working as it should!?!

Thanks again for all your help!

Visually, it looks identical to pic in the link that budm posted with exception to a little bit of cockroach poop on the one I'm working on: http://assets.shopjimmy.com/media/ca...03241a-top.jpg

Mine is the same board number with exception Rev 0.3 2011.8.04 (the one pictured is Rev 0.2 2010.07.12)

There is a 4 pin connector (CN102) that is not utilized.Re: Emerson LC401EM2F

... little bit of...

Voltages at the Inverter board connector (Power board Label / Inverter board label):
PWM-SEL / EX DIM: .775
BL-ADJ / DIM: .768
BL-5W / ENA: 2.968
ERROR / ERR_OUT: .07 while on, Max .447 when power is pressed
GND
24V / VIN: 23.82

F1 Fuse shows continuity. 23.82V on both sides.

I didn't post a picture of the back side of the inverter board because there's absolutely nothing on the back of it.

However, I did notice that the power light blinks...

All plugged back in. The only connectors with labeled voltages are:

The 24V lines to the inverter board all read 23.83V when power is on.

The larger ribbon cable to the video board (ON / OFF)

Tuner +35V = 37.5 / < .1
LCD +12 = 12.23 / < .1
LCD +12 = 12.23 / < .1
GND
GND
P-ON 3.3 = 3.38 / < .1
GND
5.5 or 5V = 7.72 / 2.6
GND
P-ON 5V = 5.26 / < .1
GND
24Vf or AMP = 27.5 / < .1

Long time listener, first time caller. I've referenced badcaps numerous times in the past, but this is my first post. I'm a computer technician and have soldering experience. In the past, I've replaced a lot of visibly bad caps to bring numerous boards [computer mobo's, monitors] back to life... I've only done a few TV's and it's usually been caps or a diode that's been the culprit. But this time, I can't find any single bad component. Even if I can't repair, I wouldn't be opposed to ordering a replacement board IF I could verify which one it needs.

Hello badcaps forum.

Long time listener, first time caller. I've referenced this forum many times in the past, but this is the first time I've had the need to post for myself.

I'm a Software Development graduate, owner of a small computer repair business in Indianapolis, IN. Though software is my forte, I've always had the desire to take apart and fix just about anything that wasn't working.

I've always been familiar with computer hardware and software, since my mom purchased a Tandy...
