Re: Sharp LC-32AV22U - Powers on, backlit, displays vertical lines, *Mostly* unrespon
hooked it up to my laptop - had to push the input button blind until something came up as the display of anything is hit or miss (right now is a miss). Got it to the right one and this is what I saw - should have been the desktop with folders & files:
Played a video to see how the image changes - and this must have been the "sunset" we saw - maybe on the tv input at the time:
For reference - this is a photo of the laptop screen,...

Here's a pic of the board.
Is there any way to be sure it's the problem? Something to look for or test?

Got it back together.
Here's the pic of the board side. Let me know which one and I can take a closer shot if it helps....

Will do. Thanks!
This time I'll use the nice camera for a good high-res photo.

No change with the hair dryer. So if it's not the tabs, you said it's likely the T-Con - where do I find one of those? And how do I know which one to get?

I'll try the hairdryer - just blow the warm air on the connections I pressed before? Where would I look to see who made the LCD?

Nothing changes at all, not even a flicker. I pressed gently on both the area where it attached to the LCD glass and to the circuit board at top.

Sharp LC-32AV22U - Powers on, backlit, displays vertical lines, *Mostly* unresponsive
We rescued this TV from our friend who planned to send it to the dump. It seems like it must be something simple, and while my husband is handy with fixing things, nothing seemed the obvious problem (and neither one of us has any experience with LCD issues).
So here's what we've found - plugged in, switched on, the TV sometimes clearly displays "Input 4" or 6 or whatever, more often white lines that are made by the shape of said characters "smeared" vertically across the whole screen like this:
When we first brought it home, after leaving...
