Thanks everyone, tw2005 nailed it...I heated the main BGA chip and it cleared up the horizontal lines and restored the video.

Can a defective T-con cause loss of sound as well as a loss of video?
This TV will come and and play perfectly for up to 18 hours, and then the video and sound will go out. The black lights will still be on. Unplug and wait for 1hour and plug back in and it will power up and play normally for another 18 hours. I have replaced 3 slightly bulging caps on the power supply and all the voltages on the main and power board are exactly the same whether it is playing or if the pic and sound is gone. I can not locate a SM for this TV and the boards have no voltage markings, so I wrote down all the... -

Okay, I put a 100ohm resister between stb and 5v and all the voltages on the connector were there, i also had 16v on xp803, so i guess i got a bad main board from shopjimmy?Leave a comment:

Here is another one that I am having problems with. Hisense F46V89C I think it is the same as the Dynex DX-L40-10A. Customer claims was struck by lightning, but the ac fuse was still intact. when I plug it in there is no indicator on the front, no l.e.d. or any click sound. I replaced the PS and main board from shopjimmy and still have the same condition. with ac plugged in and with everything disconnected from the PS, I get 4.8v on the 5v pin on the xp805 connector. but the 5vstb is not there? anyone have any suggestions?... -

I was thinking the same thing. so I did not remove it. after checking again it was not as hot as i first thought. it is just really warm, not hot. and it is in close proximity to the large processor heatsink that is even warmer. so at this point i am letting it run overnight and i will see how it is doing in the morning.Leave a comment:

i need some opinions about this. I purchased a main board from ebay and installed it. the tv came on and was working good. then i decided to connect an antennae to the 75 ohm input. the input is there but broken and will turn around and around. of course there tv is not getting any signal. while checking the 75 ohm input i noticed that the tuner itself was pretty hot to the touch. my question is would there be a good chance that the tuner being hot would eventually kill the tv? if the customer does not use the antennae input as lots of people do not, i will just instruct them to use the other... -

.time for an update. after cleaning up the bridged solder joints, i left r727 off and did not replace it because one side went straight to the HDMI chip that I removed. I ordered an eprom and replaced that and still had only 5v with orange logo. so i either should have installed another r727 chip or the main board had other problems. So i found a replacement on ebay for $65 with free shipping It came in today and i intalled it and the tv came right on and is working great.Leave a comment:

okay, finally got back to it. I cleaned up the solder bridges and now when I plug it in the logo goes from orange to white without pressing the power button. I still only have 5v standby. Is this an indication of a defective eprom?Leave a comment:
