I finally got around to setting up the TV I found at the dump a couple months ago and discovered that while everything else is in great condition there is no sound through any input. However, the startup sound does play through the speakers...
I've attached pictures of the main board but everything looks good on it. I tested the fuse and all diodes - no issues.
Wondering if there might be some way to test if the audio is getting processed but not getting to the speakers - although I'm thinking I might have to buy a new board....

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1
Went to the friendly neighboorhood dump to drop off batteries for recycling, spotted a 46" Sony LCD box in the electronics area which actually contained what it said on the outside! Model KDL-46EX400 in a bit dusty but otherwise pristine condition. August 2010 manu date. Must have been upgraded to something better. I'll have to get around to popping the back off to check the PSU caps but for now it's going to go up in the guest room.
It's the third 40"+ LCD TV I've picked up there that either works 100% or had a couple blown...

Re: Viewsonic lcd VA1912wb
Believe I found them - P605 => http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/135726/AOSMD/AOP605L.html
CE mode mosfets (1xN & 1xP) in each package so it's quite possible they have gone bad.Re: Viewsonic lcd VA1912wb<br /> <b...have gone bad.Re: Viewsonic lcd VA1912wb

Re: Viewsonic lcd VA1912wb
I'm guessing the pictures are from before you recapped the board since there are 3 caps definately bulging. The 4 chips near the transformers seem to have undergone a fair bit of thermal activity. One or more might be toast.

Re: cicero lcd inverter IC replacment needed
True, but if you compare with Digikey or Mouser etc. for a small quantity of items it usually is equivalent if not better.

Re: cicero lcd inverter IC replacment needed
Hm, I did another googling and found this ebay seller selling the chip for $1 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ALPHA-AO4900-BD4Y25_W0QQitemZ150221900248QQihZ005QQcategoryZ4663QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262).
Looking at the datasheet (https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/8cce462bfa2369de4f529efd452f792b.pdf) you can see that pin 2 is the 2nd mosfet gate. So you would need a dual, not a single. appears to be pin comparable, however it does not have the schottky...

Re: Not again....
If it's an ISO file then you can extract the files using winRAR and burn them to a blank DVD. If it's a bootable CD then there are tools available online to make a bootable image using the extracted files, I know I've used them before but I can't recall where I got them...
Also found this on eBay, much less than $200:

Re: Delta DPS-100TB-3 A (100w)
A quick googling gave up that it's a power supply used in the HP Vectra - found this page as well with the (possible) pinout for the psu: http://pinouts.ru/Power/hp_vectravl5_power_pinout.shtml

Re: Delta DPSN-96AP (xbox version 1.0 power supply)
Hi m3thlot,
This thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1229 has some info on the DNA1001. Did a quick googling and still havn't narrowed anything down except that I also found this: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/lofiversion/index.php/t320062.html - looks like they used a UC3842 as a replacement (http://www.fairchildsemi.com/pf/UC/UC3842.html for the page at Fairchild)
. Havn't had time to look at the pics you attached but will soon.
Cheers,...

Re: Xerox 17" LCD problem - caps?
As a bit of a follow-up I found one 100uF capacitor which looked dodgy, near the crystal in the 1st picture. Almost looks like someone did a bit of a "repair" in the past to a smd resistor and melted the side of the can. Anyways, I tacked a 100uF cap onto the back I had extra from recapping some other LCDs and voila the LCD turned onyay.
Crap picture, all white with a couple vertical lines which faded in and out and the text vanished almost instantly but it did work.
My question now is: does...

Re: How can I in-board test a 203D6 IC?

Looks like the G means it is lead free. There is application/usage/testing info in the datasheet you can get from that page.

Re: Yet another ESR meter!
The 3905 is a PNP, the 3903 has half the hfe of a 3904 looking at the datasheet.

Re: Xerox 17" LCD problem - caps?
Thanks Zandrax, however the inverter board works fine - it's a seperate pcb I didn't take a picture of just because it worksThe power LED flashes if the panel is plugged into it, and there is no backlight. Without the panel the LED turns on solid green and then goes into standby, also the backlights turn on and then they also go into standby. Without the inverter board attached I get the same response from the LED.
Cheers,
Alex

Xerox 17" LCD problem - caps?
Received a Xerox XL370s (ProView re-brand) 17" LCD which had power-up problems. No display on power, the power led flashes and a clicking sound is audible. Opened it up to check the boards but they looked fine. Disconnected the panel and it powers right up, backlights operational. If I re-attach the panel it just sits there flashing the led & clicking. Caps on the display board are Su'scon brand, none appear to have leaked / bulged and they are all 220@16 or 100@16. There is heat discolouration around the 3.3V regulator section and on the bottom of the board so is it possible that the...
