Re: Samsung LNT3242H 32" LCD TV, no picture but audio works- no component damage
Based on some of the comments on inverters, should I just replace the whole inverter rather than try to change out the fuse and possibly have additional problems in the future?
Or is it worth trying to fix the fuse first? Then, if that doesn't work replace the whole inverter?

Re: Samsung LNT3242H 32" LCD TV, no picture but audio works- no component damage
Thanks for your input, Tom.
I'm not familiar with how to replace this broken fuse on the inverter board.
I have basic tools. I don't have a soldering iron, but if needed, I can get one.
If you have any instructions on how I can swap out the bad F3 fuse for a new one, I would be much obliged. If it's easier to start a new thread asking about how to repair the part, I could do that as well.
Regards

Re: Samsung LNT3242H 32" LCD TV, bad fuse on inverter?
Hi, This is the original poster of this thread. I followed your suggestion above that you made to Michael earlier in the thread and below are my results.
I measured all 8 transformers (T1 through T8) on my inverter board (Samsung LNT3242H) using your method quoted above (red probe on 1, black probe on 3 and then red on 2 and black on 4). Below are all the readings for the transformers:
T1
1-3: 3.8
2-4: 0.9
T2
1-3: 3.8
2-4: 0.9
T3

Re: Samsung LNT3242H 32" LCD TV, no picture but audio works- no component damage
Here are pics of my inverter board. There is a full board pic, 1/4 sections, and side view of the caps on the inverter board.
I can't find any obvious signs of component damage on the board. Is there anything in particular I should be looking for on the board that would be the cause of my "no picture" issue?
Thanks again for your help.
Also, here is a link to the schematics and service manual for my samsung lcd tv lnt-3242hx/xaa,...

Here is the attachment with the schematic voltages and my test readings.
Are the differences enough to cause an issue?
I notice that pin #3 to the main board should be a GROUND, but it shows 5.21V - how could this be?...Last edited by mlepner; 12-14-2012, 07:04 PM.

Re: Samsung LNT3242H 32" LCD TV, no picture but audio works- no component damage
Finally was able to check the power supply voltage.
I turned on the TV and checked the wires from the power supply to the main board, and from the power supply to the inverter.
I kept the wires plugged in from the main board to the power supply when testing with the multimeter. But I unplugged the wiring from the inverter to the power board and checked the pins on the power supply board because I couldn't get the multimeter leads close to the exposed wire to get a reading....

Hi DRPJ23,
Here are images of the legend on the back panel of the tv and also the label on the power board (blue & brown wires are connected to power inlet on the back of the tv)....Last edited by mlepner; 12-06-2012, 12:06 AM.

Samsung LNT3242H 32" LCD TV, no picture but audio works- no component damage
Sorry... I posted this in the wrong section before. I apologize. This should be the place to be.
Hi all,
I've got a Samsung 32" LCD TV. While watching it one day, I switched channels and then hit the "last" button quickly, and the screen went black. Audio works great.
The testing I have done thus far:
- After leaving tv on overnight (~7-10 hours), still no picture
- After 24 hours unplugged, still no picture
- Shining flash light on screen in dark room shows no hint of image on screen
- No back lighting around...
