  • sony kdl-40w650d No picture

I have a sony kdl-40w650d that has sound and backlight but no picture. I had the same issue 2 years ago and replaced the main board and that fixed the problem. I do not want to invest another $70 in this tv to replace it again and was hoping someone may know what the problem is as this seems to be a common issue with this tv. Any help is greatly appreciated.

nomoresonys - There are no buttons on the TV. I was probing around on the main board. There are what I think are 2 fuses by the connector coming from the power board. I get continuity at F2 but not at F1. How can I safely jump this to test it? If this is my problem, where can I get a replacement?...

  • Re: vizio dead set

I also have a Vizio e420vo that is dead. It is my brothers tv and was working fine until he messed with the circuit the tv was connected to while hooking up a ceiling fan. I don't know what he did, but he blew the breaker. when he fixed the fan wiring, the tv would not turn on. I looked at the boards and there is not obvious signs of anything being cooked. The main fuse on the power supply is good and I get 5v on the 3 pins that say 5v on the header that goes to the main board. I did followed BUDM's suggestion by connecting 3 1k resistors to the connector that...

  • Re: jvc EM55FTR Won't power on

The TV is fixed!! Unfortunately I had to replace the main board to do it, but it works. When removing the incorrect EEPROM, I messed up 3 of the solder pads and decided to just get a new one. Thanks to all who helped. This forum never disappoints. What a great group!

  • Re: jvc EM55FTR Won't power on

R_J, I purchased the eeprom for my board. I have model 3655-0802-0150 main board. Could there still be a problem with the main board or is it possible the t-con is bad based on the image I am now receiving? I tried unplugging and
replugging in all the connectors going to the t-con board.

When I froze the original eeprom and it turned on it was cycling through what looked like a color test pattern. I could not tell if it was a messed up image because the images were solid colors. I am stumped.

Well, I received the chip in the mail from Shopjimmy. I watched the video nomoresonys posted. The TV will now turn on, but the picture is messed up. It almost looks like the t-con board is bad. Could this be the result of a bad install or could it still be the main board?...

    Thanks for the response.

maxvalutech - I checked the voltages of the large caps on the power supply like you suggested. The 2 closest to the plug going to the main board I got 18.89 volts. the 2 on the upper left side of the PSU, were around 2.75 volts. The 2 below those were 0 volts and the large one in the center was around 161 volts. There is no standby light.

R_J - I tried freezing the US4 eeprom like you suggested and then plugged the TV in. After a minute or so, the TV turned on by itself and kept cycling through the...

  • jvc EM55FTR Won't power on

Hi I have a JVC EM55FTR that wont power on. Nothing lights up at all. I have tried searching the forum for help with this model TV and can't find anything. I am a newbie, so please be patient with me.

I have tried doing some trouble shooting, but my skills are limited. I have attached pictures of the inside of the TV.

I tested the fuse on the power supply and it is fine. I tested the pins on the back of the cable going to the main board and this is what I got:

    Pin - Value - Result
    10 - DIM2 - .08V
    09 - Dim1 - 2.75V
    08...

  • Re: Harmon Kardon sub-ts5 problems

I did remove all the glue and cleaned the area with a brass bristle brush. Would bad caps cause this?

  • Harmon Kardon sub-ts5 problems

Hi I am having trouble with a Harmon Kardon powered Sub. Out of no where, the sub started making random popping/thunder sounds even when off. This sub has not been used very much and has never been abused.

I took the amp out and noticed that with it on, if I moved the little board (sorry, don't know what its called) that is soldered to the input board the noise would get worse or improve. This made me think it was a bad solder joint. I de-soldered the little board and scraped the glue that was put on it off. I cleaned the board with a brass toothbrush and re-soldered the header...

    Budm,

If I were to order all the regulators, can you help me to make sure I order the correct ones?

    u6, abf601, ?
    u4, abf601, ?
    u8, abf601, ?
    u5, amc1117 / f0615j, = adjustable
    u10, 6e5l / 17-18l = 1.8v fixed
    u9, 6e5l / 17-18L, = 1.8v fixed
    u7, 6e5l / 17-18L, = 1.8v fixed
    u16, 6e5l / 17-18L, = 1.8v fixed

    Du2, abf601, = ?
    du3, 6d1l / 17-25L, = 1.8v fixed
    du4, amc1117 / f0615j, = adjustable
    du1, 7805ct / rjn539g, in = ?

    ...

What do you think I should order? Are all 1117 adjustable voltage regulators the same or are there different ones? Should I order any of the other regulators?

    Budm,

I checked those regulators again. The labels on the chips are correct. U9 and u10 are as I originally posted. For some reason u5 has changed. The readings I got today are adj= .336, out= .939 and in= 3.293. I wonder why that one changed.

    Withalligators,

I saw that video. My main board only has 2 fuses and both are good.
