  • AC Overvoltage

What's the maximum continuously voltage a quality PSU, with APFC can take? I mean, the PSU manufactures usually states that they can handle +/- 10% of the nominal input voltage - 100-240V - which would translate into 90-264V.

Well, an UPS is supposed to protect the PSU against under and overvoltage so, If 264V is the maximum safe figure for PSUs, why APC allows 288-294V on one of their UPS models before transfer to battery? The unit I'm talking about:

  • Re: square output UPS vs. bulk capacitor voltage

I think that would be a solution, but would make the PSU's more expansive, wouldn't it? What's the price difference between a 400V and 500V capacitor? Or a 200V to a 250V?

Isn't there a way for the UPS manufactures change this kind of bahaviour in the UPS itself? I think that would be a more reasonable approach to the problem.

  • Voltage regulador inside UPS x Relay x Inrush Current

I don't know if I'm posting this at the right place, but here it goes anyway. I hope you guys understand what I'm trying to say.

Some people, including myself, have been discussing on brazilian forums (I'm brazilian) about the side effects of having relays opening and closing on the AC line, those relays usually found in UPSses and AC voltage regulators. That annoying clicking sound they make every time a diferent transformer tap is selected to add or subtract a few volts to make the input voltage to the PSU as close as possible to it's nominal voltage ratings and its effects on...

  • Re: square output UPS vs. bulk capacitor voltage

Hi, I had read this topic a while ago and had also brought this up on a brazilian forum a while ago (I'm brazilian) and some more knowledgeable people there had come up with the same conclusions posted here and they were surprised about this issue, they had never thought about it before...

I'm posting this message because I wanna know if APC replied about this issue.

I know we now understand the causes of it and workaround, but if APC haven't replied on this, wouldn't it mean they're trying to hide the...
