vizio vp50 (plasma) wont turn off?
Over a year ago the tv went out and I fixed it, then 2 weeks ago it started randomly turning off after being on for only a few mins.. pulled the back I had one cap that was ever so slightly bulging, and one cap that had gotten loose from his solder joint where I had to solder on a new one, so I replaced the cap that looked bad and resoldered the cap that came loose, put it all back together, as soon as the tv is plugged in it turns on even though the little light at the bottom is orange, its like its just the back light, then when I hit the power button the rest of the tv turns on, it works fine,...

vizio vp50 looses picture and sound after a few min
So I already repaired this tv once about a year ago, watching it the other night and it just popped off, no sound or picture, I unplugged it, let it sit for a little bit and turned it back on, everything worked fine, started netflix, a few mins into my show the whole thing went out again, I'm afraid I have a capacitor or something that's about to go, I'd rather replace this before it blows, because last time it blew it took a lot of stuff with it.. I'm almost certain this has to be in the power supply, the Vizio logo never shut off when it lost pic and sound.. what should I do or check for??

Re: vizio turns on and off in matter of sec
Ya I'm going to do some reading to make sure I'm using this right as its not like my old one I'm used, the one I have now is the free one they give you at harbor freight, and yes its set to dc
That's what I wasn't getting, if its saying 145 when set to 1000vdc then that would mean 145 v but then why is it not showing up on the 200vdc.. also I did notice when I unplugged it I went to discharge that big capacitor so I didn't zap myself, and well there was nothing in it to discharge, no pop

Re: vizio turns on and off in matter of sec
By dmm do you mean digital multi meter? All I have now is my cheap harbor freight one I'm still learning to use, no 600v setting, on 200v setting its not reading anything, on 1000v setting its flexing between 140-145
Haha when I was younger me and my friends used to pull disposable camera apart to get to their 400-500v capacitors and we'd make little tazers out if them, stung like hell to get hit by one!

vizio plasma works for few mins then pops off
So I fixed this tv about a year ago, it had the infamous pop of death and fried some video boards when it went, replaced the boards, and all the bad caps on the power supply, its been working great for about a year now but, it just popped off on me again, no loud pop from a cap going, just went all black, sound is gone also, so no video or sound, the little light at the bottom stayed green though, turned it off and unplugged it, let it sit for a couple min turned it back on and it worked perfect for like 5 min before everything popped off again, I'm afraid I've got a cap going or something so...

Re: vizio turns on and off in matter of sec
No its flat, ill see if I can get a better pic of it, but ya no life at all, no leds or anything, I unplugged it and let it sit, I tried different outlets and still nothing, is there something specific I could check on the power supply to see if it failed, to rule out the possibility of it being that other big board below the powersupply where the on and off signal comes from, I know when that board was unplugged the tv would show no signs if life like it is now

Re: vizio turns on and off in matter of sec
Going down the rows the top two sections both split off to each side of the tv and mirror each other
Power off they all vary between 0.00v to >1v
Power on the top 4 pins show 24v and the rest are >1v
The bottom 3rd outlet read, well I can't remember, the top pin power off read <1v, power on read 3v, the next few ones I can't remember, some said 0v power on or off, and some of the pins close to the bottom said 5v power on or off.. problem is, is while I was testing these, it all of a sudden lost power,...

Re: vizio turns on and off in matter of sec
I'm guessing if this is a hardware problem its in the power supply right?

Re: vizio turns on and off in matter of sec
Are these good enough? It was pretty hard to get a good pic of the caps as they are covered, but they're aren't bulging out the top at all...

vizio turns on and off in matter of sec
So its the vx32l model to be exact, I've been trying to read what I could, but most everything I've read has been on just answer with techs giving pointless advice to guys who don't understand it, and can't follow through
Whats happening is I plug it in, the orange light comes on, hit the power, vizio logo turns white for about 3 secs then back orange, no flicker, back light or noise, the relay never even clicks on which makes me think the problem could be there but I've also read it could be a software update.. well I've got my multimeter on the ready, where and what should I be looking...

Re: vizio "pop of death" fixed, still no picture
ya so i am not getting any glow at all, if i remember right, the y sus does the picture like said above and z sus controls the brightness i think, correct? the smoke, i spent forever examining that zsus board just in case, and i saw nothing, it was completely baffling
so i dont get any form of screen at all whether with either buffer alone or both together, the screen is never primed. What i dont get is i was told to take each buffer out to check if the other one is working, but it looks like the signal runs...

vizio "pop of death" fixed, still no picture
hey so i have a vizio vp50 hdtv10a which suffered the infamous pop of death, took the back off and could easily see what caps had gone bad on the power supply, ordered the repair kit and started off by only replacing the bad caps, tried to power on and heard another pop that sound like it came from around the y drive, y main area. so i took it back out and replaced all 19 caps, whether they looked bad or not. hooked it back up and now i have something. earlier the tv wouldnt even stay on, no audio or video. now the tv powers on fine and stays on, i also have audio, just no picture so i have been...
