Asus N550JV Audio jack, cant find it anywhere
Good evening, have a couple of Asus N550JV laptops with broken audio jacks, I have replaced a lot of them from donor dead laptops, but now I dont have any more dead boards to remove them from and I cant find this part anywhere(Ebay, Aliexpress, Taobao), there is no part identification on the audio jack and from the board view all it says is that its called an NBS_PHONE_JACK_6P_019 that leads me to nowhere.
I have attached a couple of photos in case someone can find me some jacks to buys.
Best regards....

Re: x551AM bios needed
That was fast, in any case, here is the factory BIOS that can be directly flashed to a brand new Flash, beware that you will loose your Serial Number and Mac Adress from the LAN interface.
Confirm what is your motherboard model before flashing the correct one....

Re: Asus UX31E missing backlight after replacing LCD
Around the LVDS connector there should be one or two mosfets with 15-19v at the source if I'm not mistaken, usually those are the mosfets that "blow" and so your panel has no power for the backlight, they are usually in SOT-23 packages, there was some HP model that I have changed a couple of the mosfets and a bulk decoupling cap, a 0805 10uF cap.

Re: Asus K55VM no power
I have found a boardview file for this board in a website that I can make downloads:

Re: Asus K55VM no power
The mosfet near the PJP9002 text is marked:
A5 GNA
802809
The two in the other side of the pcb are both marked:
A5 GNB
100H09
Voltage on BQ25A pins:
Pin 1: 800mV
Pin 2: 800mV
Pin 3: 800mV
Pin 4: 800mV
Pin 19: 1V

Re: Asus K55VM no power
The first mosfet in the first picture measures the following:
Pin 1: 800mV
Pin 2: 800mV
Pin 3: 800mV
Pin 4: 800mV
Pin 5: 19v
Pin 6: 19v
Pin 7: 19v
Pin 8: 19v
The second mosfet measures 800mV on all pins.
The mosfet next to the PJP9002 text:
Pin 1: 1V
Pin 2: 1V
Pin 3: 1V
Pin 4: 800mV sometimes oscilates to 1V, might be related to the probe contact
Pin 5: 800mV
Pin 6: 800mV
Pin 7: 800mV
Pin 8: 800mV

Asus K55VM no power
Good morning, I'm trying to revive a dead Asus K55VM motherboard.
I have measured some voltages and already tried changing a couple components in an identical case without success.
The problem with both of them is that right after the DC-IN there are two mosfets for reverse polarity protection, those mosfets never turn on, they have about 600-800mV at the gate.
The BQ25A has 2.6v in the AC-DET pin and 2.8v in the AC-OK output, the Vcc for the BQ25A is 18.8v, all this when powering the board using a Rigol DP832A power supply set to 19v, current consumption measures 0.0001A....

Re: ASUS K53SV on off itsel
Try this factory Asus Bios, be warned that your Windows 8 key will be erased, so take a note of it before flashing or you will need to call Microsoft to activate your Windows 8....

Re: Upgrade de GT630M GF108 to GT630M GF116 or GT640M
The 660 has a different codename N13E-GE, and uses GDDR5, my motherboard has GDDR3, so its a no go.
I think the extra 10Watts of the GT650 will cook the buck regulators, at 1v core voltage 10Watts translate to some 10A extra, I don't think the mosfets would be up the task.
I'm a bit paranoid with overheating, so for now I have added two layers of Fujipoly 10W/mK of thermal pads between the mosfets that supply the graphic chip and the metal top(it the metal plate under the keyboard), made them run much cooler....

Re: Upgrade de GT630M GF108 to GT630M GF116 or GT640M
I have "found" the schematic for my laptop, but its in a forum that requires points to download, the problem is that it is a polish forum, so I will never be able to reply and gain points to download it, I also found a boardView but without schematic I doesn't have much use.
It seems to be a rather rare schematic, I can't find anything neither for the N53SM, nor for the older N53JQ or the N53SV, its strange.
Modding a BIOS is totally out of my knowledge, but given its not a UEFI bios(maybe it its,...

Upgrade de GT630M GF108 to GT630M GF116 or GT640M
Good evening everybody.
So, crazy idea time, I have an old Asus N53SM with an GT630M(the GF108 version), I was reading some old articles and discovered that there are two flavours of the GT630M, que GF108 with 96 shaders and the GF106/GF116 that has 144 shadders, I have an Ersa IR650 where I work and a bit of rework/reballing knowledge, I'm the guy that repairs computers at the board level, all others just know how to order new boards..
I started to think and checked some prices in eBay, and thought that for 40-50€ for a new chip and 1h of work it might be a good...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi, from Portugal.
I'm an electronics engineering student, and I have already seen some of the effects of bad an low quality caps, having this as a reference to what brands to avoid and to see some electronics guts is always a pleasure.
Best Regards,
Tiago Angelo.
