Re: LG 37LC2 Sound still not right - running out of ideas arrrgh!
Yeah maybe but I wouldn't have a clue where to start frankly and that kit is already assembled and ready to go. Thats not my real issue though, the real issue is do you think it's suitable? OR do you have anywhere else that I can get them?

Re: LG 37LC2 Sound still not right - running out of ideas arrrgh!
The board has been replaced (courtesy of Tom) but another thread here with the 32" TV (also LG) had a PSU problem with the caps that solved the sound when they were replaced.
This is the link to the pack of PSU caps that I forgot to post earlier - only £9 odd and they're suppoed to be suitable replacements for the originals. Any thoughts? (Sorry tom forgot to mention that it was specifically a repair pack of caps for this PSU lol)

Re: LG 37LC2 Sound still not right - running out of ideas arrrgh!
Hmm you have a point about the caps - I just bought any old stuff I could find. Maybe I should try again online with special audio caps?
Oddly though, I've used their 470uF / 25V caps in PSUs on LCD monitors in the past with no probs..

I'm no expert but that looks like a chip on the display driver board is toast - maybe overheating or something.

LG 37LC2 Sound still not right - running out of ideas arrrgh!
Hi all
First of all, big thanks to Tom who helped me out with a working replacement sound board (which btw Tom was an exact match!). Unfortunately I've put it in and the distorted sound persists. Bugger!
So.. today I went to maplins and bought some more caps for the PSU. Replaced a few more (one being 10V despite asking for 16 or 25V if they didn't have it bah...) and the problem still persists. If anything, I think it's slightly worse now I've replaced more caps.
I'm running out of ideas here guys. The missus wants the window ledge clear, I don't...

Re: LG 32LC2D-EC - NO SOUND (and other issues)
Hi tom!
Any luck? (sorry to be pushy but the TV is in bits all over the window ledge and living room lol!)
Cheers

Hi mate
Did you mange to ask your dad about the board yet? (sorry, not sure if you meant you'd ask when back at home or ask before and then send when you're back)
Cheers

Re: LG 32LC2D-EC - NO SOUND (and other issues)
Well I've checked the voltages that are marked and they're all ok. There are a few other weird ones marked out
P201:
DIM
BRI
ERR
I
ACD
P202:
Seems to be the connector for the sound board but no weird markings on this one. Checked the voltages on the connecter on the board itself and they all seem to be there but I only have a MM - no scope
Any idea what causes clipping apart from voltage? - tom has offered to help in a few weeks with another board but obviously...

One other thing, with the volume low there is no distortion. Turn it up and it gets worse the louder the volume is.
Is that significant in any way?

Howdi
6V on all 3 connectors is ok but there is a hissing / buzzing coming from the big yellow transformer area. Not sure if its the transformer itself or the caps. Would changing those out make any difference? - I can't see it myself but thought I'd ask.

Re: LG 32LC2D-EC - NO SOUND (and other issues)
Not checked the 6V (dumb of me wasn't it) but will do that at some point.
Reason I've not checked? - The damn thing is on a bay window ledge, the markings are upside down (despite the bottom of the TV being at my side of the ledge) and it's quite a back straining excercise reaching over with a mag glass, reading them upside down while holding a torch and two MM probes! Ok, whinge over I'll get onto that in a bit..
EDIT: Actually, I got a feeling I did test them yesterday but only on one connector.. ah well...

Ok mate, if you could ask him that would be great! Does it definitely work?
I'll keep an eye on this threadLast edited by Twinky; 11-20-2012, 04:31 PM.

Re: LG 32LC2D-EC - NO SOUND (and other issues)
Hi
Yes sounds about right, I've snapped a pic of it for you with the boards and the back panel on. It also has PC - serial and optical on it along with PCMCIA.
Which board do you have and how much do you want for it?
Shame when TVs like this go wrong, it seems pretty nice but people don't seem interested in repairing them anymore. I got given this by someone who didn't want it due to the sound distortion - he has a TV repair shop just round the corner!...Last edited by Twinky; 11-20-2012, 04:20 PM.

Re: LG 32LC2D-EC - NO SOUND (and other issues)
Hmm, I was hoping for better news!
Which main board is it? - I'm assuming the sound board is where the P202 connector and wires run to on the right?
TV picture seems to be fine so it would be a bit of a disappointment if I can't fix it!

Re: LG 32LC2D-EC - NO SOUND (and other issues)
2V on P201, 3.4 on P202 and 3.4 on P203 (I see what you meant about the metal now - in the top of the connector with the wire!).
Also my 5th LED isn't lit up just like tmcw's TV
PSU buzzes very slightly but nothing I'd call alarming..Last edited by Twinky; 11-20-2012, 03:45 PM.

Re: LG 32LC2D-EC - NO SOUND (and other issues)
Hang on, which 3.4V are you talking about? - I thought you meant on the PSU itself? - That being the case I can't access the metal contact with the plug in place ~)

I can test that with the connector plug taken off yes?
