Fair enough.
Worth an ask though.

Re: Baier LCD-27SL Burned component
Think I *may* have found another issue, albeit unrelated, connector plug for the side AV ports wasn't securely connected....that wouldn't have anything to do with this?

Re: Baier LCD-27SL Burned component
Caps - Panasonic FM Caps from RS components (UK),all replaced with same values apart from 2 x 680uf caps swapped for 1000uf caps (had 1k's in stock no 680s)
No idea regarding below pre cap swap, unlikely from soldering as its quite a distance from any soldering work and nothing closer shows any sign of heat damage.
I'll get a soft toothbrush and try again, though I think the writing has had it as looking close the component looks....distorted.
Ok photos included
one showing an end on view showing...

Baier LCD-27SL Burned component
So got this TV to look at from my parents.
Found 6 swollen topped capacitors on the power board and replaced them. Put it back together.....comes on Red to green LED screen powers on and almost immediately goes off and LED goes orange.
Looking underneath the board I find a rather burned looking component with damage to the surrounding PCB. Cleaned the board off with some alcohol and the photos show what was found.
Component at fault number seems to be R80, but I have no clue what it is.
Pics included.
Numbers on the power board : JSK3230-064, 7210089 and Rev 2A...

Re: Sanyo CE26LD81-B TV Troubleshooting
Fair enough, thanks for the advice
Much appreciated.
I was actually going to ask if a panel from a different display could be used to test the boards. (I have a 27" Baier TV with a working 720p panel)
Likely just strip it for parts and ditch what I can't sell.
Thanks again for your help.
Next....perhaps try and sort the baier out or my 24" el cheapo 1080 monitor.

Re: Sanyo CE26LD81-B TV Troubleshooting
Well as someone else said to me, "your soldering has improved" so thats one plus, at worst I'll salvage the caps etc from the boards.
Unless anyone else needs parts from the TV.
drat thought I was onto a free telly there....:/

Re: Sanyo CE26LD81-B TV Troubleshooting
Think that damp might have gotten in or the panel is goosed, large darker S shape in the middle of the screen when an strong LED torch is shone at it.
Rats....learning curve, chalk things up to experience methinks...

Re: Sanyo CE26LD81-B TV Troubleshooting
Ok still no go
Replaced both caps with those suggested and replaced a few other caps that looked suspect.
Repaired the IDTV board also.
Next tried unhooking the IDTV board, still nothing, LED lights up blue on the front, power it on, nothing.
So now really scratching my head....

Re: Sanyo CE26LD81-B TV Troubleshooting
other bits and bobs also, be less if minimum order was less than 5 for most things
Also got 2 other things to repair, which 1 is also made by vestel under other brand so likely will have the same parts on it.
Also forgot about fleabay
*shrugs* Practice also, learning experience.

Re: Sanyo CE26LD81-B TV Troubleshooting
I wasn't sure as it had next to no markings on it, so I just resoldered it and thats when the burn happened...
Thanks for the PDF....very handy.
I looks like it just snapped off at some point,

Re: Sanyo CE26LD81-B TV Troubleshooting
I'm still learning how to read component markings
This resonator:
CREC is the maker (china something or other)
4.000000Mhz is the frequency (understood that without issue)
0703 though I'm not sure on if its of any consequence or just something to do with CREC

Re: Sanyo CE26LD81-B TV Troubleshooting
Yep did that and then got cocky and C836 is the one I fried......
(If C878 and C877 are at the top left of the board C836 is just to the right of them between some aluminium radial caps)

Re: Sanyo CE26LD81-B TV Troubleshooting
Ok so 1&3 show the damage from different angles (yeah I burned that right off...maplin cheap 40W soldering iron though, gets so hot the handle gets incredibly hot....might now invest in something a little better built..)
9&10 show the repair attempt
12 is the location on the top side of the board, little red capacitor
14 is something (crystal resonator?) i found laying on the floor (pretty sure it fell out when I opened the TV as its missing in the first shots....would that being missing also stop it powering...Last edited by MrF; 11-23-2012, 05:39 PM.

Re: Sanyo CE26LD81-B TV Troubleshooting
Almost killed the board.....overheated 2 pads and burnt them....badly
though I think I've rescued them...managed to make out where the traces run to next and bridged the legs from the component on the burnt pads to the next component's solder pads on the respective traces.
Am I right in thinking that should work ok?
