• Re: Dell 2405FWP; bad Cap and bad resister?

Here is a link to another post with a lot of detailed troubleshooting information. FYI.

    Thanks for the replies,

-- how do I edit the original message; so that I can remove the images and re-post them as attachments (as requested)?

-- So, it sounds as if the problem is likely to be bigger than just these 2 components. Is it worth me pursuing? As a raw beginner I don't really want to invest too much time and money into this just to discover that the problem is beyond my ability to diagnose and resolve (PFC Controller sounds like it would be difficult to source (and expensive)).

  • Dell 2405FWP; bad Cap and bad resister?

    Hi,

I have a Dell 2405FWP I bought with me when I moved from USA to France. It is dual voltage, and it worked for a while, but now it wont power on.

I have very (very) little electronics experience, but I would like to learn more, and hopefully experience the satisfaction of fixing more things instead of just junking them and buying more stuff.

So... I watched this video to learn how to take the back off (it was a bit counter-intuitive; you take the front bezel off to access the back). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXAQxwCTuuI
