Re: Repairing a vx2235wm
I have not had a chance to check the CCFL Tube's yet. But I noticed last week... My monitor was on for 12+ hours with no problems... When I was ready to leave work.. I put my keyboard and mouse above my tower. While doing that my I kept my monitor on... And I accidentally bumped the keyboard into the monitor lower area near the power button... and then it went black all of the sudden. Does this mean anything? That it could be something else other than the CCFL's?

Re: Repairing a vx2235wm
I noticed that the screen brightness increases and decreases at random times as well. I don't know if this will help troubeshooting. but I have yet to test the CCFL Bulbs because I do not have the required CFL bulb to do the modification.

Re: Repairing a vx2235wm
So basically I am testing the inverter circuits with the CFL lamp modification, as well as testing the lamp's themselves? What do I look for when testing the lamps, and testing the inverter circuits?...

Re: Repairing a vx2235wm
selldoor - those were measured on a fluke 187 in Ω auto mode. I am not sure how to set to 2000 ohms and do it.

With buds pictures showing the secondary windings. The top two measured 371.25 and bottom two measured 368.20....

Re: Repairing a vx2235wm
I cannot seem to find anything on Youtube on testing secondary windings... What are these secondary winding's I'm testing? what is the component?

Re: Repairing a vx2235wm
Yes when the screen goes black and the light is blue.... if I hover a flash light I can see what i was previously doing. I was going to post this earlier but I didn't have the chance....

Re: Repairing a vx2235wm
So i just realized there was 1 capacitor I did not replace cause it was big and I couldn't find it at the local capacitor place. Although I think that it is not the problem but I will replace it soon... But I seem to think that the backlight is the problem... what are the symptoms of backlights going bad?...

Re: Repairing a vx2235wm
So... I just replaced all the capacitors, and the problem is still happening... The monitor just goes black with the blue light staying on. I noticed that the top of the monitor is really warm. Is this normal? Any other suggestions as to why this is happening?

Re: Repairing a vx2235wm
Oh to answer your question if I put it on backwards... On the board it's self trees a - and a side with black... On the capacitor that solid line going up and down I put that on the negative side.

Re: Repairing a vx2235wm
I bought all the capacitors to replace them all... But I replaced the obvious bulging capacitor thinking that would only be it... I will replace them all tonight or maybe tomorrow and keep you posted....

Re: Repairing a vx2235wm
So... long story short... the capacitor i had in there started smoking and popped... I managed to get Panasonic 220uF 25V FC Panasonic Capacitors.... and i put one in.... And its still doing the same thing i previously mentioned. The monitor still goes black randomly.... But it is operating fine other than that. Any idea's as to what is the cause of this?

Re: Repairing a vx2235wm
so you literally want me to use a wire and link the cap with the burned part of the board... with the other one to the right?...

Re: Repairing a vx2235wm
What is the green color supposed to be showing me... and what is the red supposed to be showing me? I'm confused. When i removed the solder with the wick and pump..... you can see where the hole is.... It looks like i burnt the contact to the board its self. I will have to post a better close up when i get a chance tomorrow. Does the lead free solder i have... not have enough flux on it?...
