  • Dell 2209waf monitor problem

    Hi all,

    I'm still fooling around with my Dell 2209waf that I use for photo proofing, trying to figure out a problem that developed a while back. We had a lightning strike that destroyed a few lights and phones. My computer and the Dell monitor were on a UPS backup which is also surge protected but when I checked on the computer, it was froze and needed to be rebooted. Everything worked fine until a few months afterward when the monitor would suddenly dim and color shift toward the red. It was still usable for anything but photo proofing as only the color balance and brightness changed....

  • Re: Replacement capacitor

    Just thought I'd post the final solution:

    The counter works fine now and I have the correct voltage of 5V at test point 1....

    Thanks for your suggestion. I just ordered a 12000uf/16V +/-20% radial from Digi-Key. I'll use one existing hole on the board, drill another, mount the cap vertically and run a wire to the other connection. I could lay it down as well and as you indicated, tie it down to secure it....

  • Replacement capacitor

    I'm looking to replace an eletrolitico 10,000uf, 6V, -10% +100% electrolytic axial capacitor in a Fluke 1900A. It would be nice to replace it with an axial if possible though I'm having a difficult time finding a 12000uf, +/-20%, 16V axial. I can find a 25V though the 50mm length will make it a tight fit. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    The most unusual behavior is the unit does the 2-second to black without a power button push. It happens as soon as I plug the unit into the wall. And sometimes it does it without the red standby led lighting at all.

    I've been three for three so far in repairing the 32" LCD televisions I brought back from the transfer station, an LG, Toshiba and a Vizio. This Insignia seems to be plagued with issues. It's been a good learning tool but it seems it will probably cost more to fix than it is worth....

    After the modification, "on/off" is now at 5.09v and "P/S on" remains at 4.71v....

    Thanks for offering your help.

    ok, I disconnected the on/off lead coming from the main board (I just used a safety pin and was able to dislodge the metal clip from the plastic connector). I soldered a 1k resistor from the 5v pin to the on/off pin on the power supply where I now have 5.08v. I plugged the unit in and the backlight lit up for about two seconds then turned off. The led remains red with a black screen. Pushing the power button does nothing. Plugging the unit in gets the same behavior...

    So if I understand you correctly, I solder a 1k resistor between the on/off pin and the 5v pin on the power supply board? Does it matter which 5v pin?...

  • Re: 32" Insignia NS-L32Q -10A No power to inverter

    I know this is an old thread but I'm having problems with the same model television. When I plug the unit in, sometimes the red led lights and sometimes it doesn't. If I press the power switch, most of the time nothing happens though sometimes I see a brief dim white flash. My power supply voltages are as follows:

    on/off = .001
    PDM= 3.32
    12v = both are 12.38
    all ground = -.001
    24v = both are 25.13
    P/S on = 4.71
    5v = both are 5.18

    I'm assuming the on/off is the backlight...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hi everyone,

    I'm Rick from the Berkshires of western MA. I have lurked in these forums off and on for about a year. A few months ago I started picking up discarded LCD televisions at my local transfer station, bringing them home and repairing them. These forums have been helpful and I've learned a lot along the way. Thanks to all that have been kind enough to share their knowledge. Hopefully I can do the same as I progress.
