Sorry the diode was downstream from the chip not upstream. All other components come after. I removed the diode and it tested good... -
The parts were upstream, consisting of various components, including a diode, resistors and caps....Leave a comment:

You are right I do apologise, I just downloaded the data sheet and it indeed has 8 pins. All I saw was the initial image on the screen which showed 6 pins.
this is looking very promising. I really appreciate your guys help you are all very knowledgeable and I can learn a lot from all of you....Leave a comment:

That chip has only 6 pins and is 3mm×3mm. My chip has 8 pins and is 4mmx4mm. 🤷♂️ Unless im looking at the wrong one. I did check all the 4mmx4mm chips in there list but they all look like bga chips too me. But again I might be (and probably am) wrong. 😁Leave a comment:

Just to add, I have now purchased another radio off ebay with a different fault so hopefully I will be able to test the component and at least figure out my voltages. You never know, there may be a ic I could get to make this one work too. Fingers crossed. Worst case scenario I get one fully working radio and I didnt pay much money. But its the fault finding is what makes it worth it for me.Leave a comment:

Here is the best picture i can take with my phone at the minute. You can see the empty pads where i took the chip from. i believe there is an inductor just before the ic marked l204...

After a little bit of reserch (using gemini ai) it looks as though it could be a switching regulator. Chances of finding an equivalent component without knowing the output voltages is probably not going to happen. I guess i need to keep my eye out for another faulty unit with hopefully a different issue....Leave a comment:

Hi, it is a pure evoke H3. Sold as no power. When i initialy gave it voltage i had a current draw of 1.9a and about 8 components were getting hot .I removed the ic simply because it was the first component to show heat on the thermal camera. Since removing all the shorts are gone so i presume it has failed internaly.Leave a comment:

help identifying a component
Hi there, i purchased a faulty pure dab radio from ebay and after some testing i found that this ic i believe is possibly a mosfet? has failed and caused a short on the board. I have typed the numbers in google but cant find any info at all. I am very new to electronics but i am learning. would anybody have any idea what it is and if there is an equivalent component i could try. With the chip off the board i get 5.4v on pin 1, pin 3 is ground as is pin 6, and on pin 8 i have 4.5v. i know this is quite vauge but im hoping someone could help. Thanks...
