  • Capacitor testers

Hi all, I have a couple older testers but no instruction manuals. Please see pics. Hoping someone on this forum can help me out. Trying to figure out if they are working properly. All of the following comes from multiple tests with all three meters using multiple caps.

The Scientific Devices meter ( the one with LED readout) has a six position switch, none of the markings are readable with certainty, lowest appears to be 100pf. It consistently gives readings of several hundreds over the cap rating.

The Newcason XC6013L works correctly, giving repeatable readings (+/-...

Forgot to add. I salvaged my fans from some defunct computers and power supplies. All 12 volt and nice and quiet, and found a variety of sizes to try. When I open it this time I plan on replacing them with LED lighted fans, makes a good visual indicator that the fans are working.

I think I tapped two off of the squirrel cage and one off the fan on the right. I have one blowing directly on the T-con. Both the ysus and tcon were smoked when I got the tv. Everything I read said a major cause of these failures was too much heat.

  • Lg 60pc1d, Occasional green artifacts

Hello all, Through the help of this forum the first tv I fixed (about 4 years ago) is a LG 60PC1D. Plasma's generate a lot more heat than the little fans can remove, after replacing three over heated/failed boards I tapped in to the existing fan wires and added two more fans (lots of room, may add another while solving the current problem) It has begun to show green artifacts, Usually on peoples foreheads, most noticeable in the upper left quadrant, but also noticed a intermittent green line (never solid) about 5 inches long, left of center, halfway up the screen. Neither of these issues are constant...

  • Re: Westinghouse SK32H570D Blue screen of death with a code

Thanks, Unplugged both the power and data cables. No blue screen, but initially had issue that none of the control buttons except power button worked. Hot plugged the dvd power and buttons worked, then unplugged hot, buttons continued to work. Now a 72 hour test with a lot of button pushing.
    Thanks for the replies!

  • Westinghouse SK32H570D Blue screen of death with a code

Hello all, Have an older Westinghouse, found and replaced a burnt out backlight inverter. Tv came right on, nice clear image. After about ten seconds the blue screen of death appeared as an 8" horizontal band across the middle of the screen with the code (?) "18G1W016 Factory". Tv comes on when plugged in without pressing the power button, none of the buttons have any effect.
A search of the web and westinghouse has provided zero info. Hoping someone here can give some insight.
    Thanks much

  • Sansui HDLCD3700 1 second image

Red light power indicator. Power on button causes a relay to click, then 2 to 3 seconds later the screen flashes with "please wait" in the lower left corner. Then nothing, no sound, no image, backlights are off; green power indicator remains on. Caps all look good, tested the fuse mentioned in the only other post on this model, it's good. Thoughts on where to start?
    Thanks

  • Toshiba regza 46SV670U

HDMI inputs (4) do not work, I do not have any "component" device to try them, it does not have coax input. Both RCA inputs (side and back) work fine.
Is there a part(s) on the mainboard that cause this and are they replaceable?
Replacement boards start at $130 and go up to $300+.
Related question; I haven't opened the set up yet, but is it possible to add the coax "box" to this board? i.e. Is the trace on the board? Every one I've looked at has coax input and the tv has the markings and openings to suggest it was deleted on this model.

  • Re: Westinghouse SK-32H240S Continued problems

New to me tv. PlainBill, I read all of the posts in this thread and others but have not found a follow up to the individual light test. If one bulb is not lighting will this cause these symptoms? Upon power up, logo comes on for 3 seconds or so, then black then the input starts. Lasts about ten seconds then black.
Cannot see any image using a flashlight, second bulb from the top does not light.
I cannot see any bad caps or burns at any transformers....

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hello all, Ryan in Wisconsin. I've been using the repair forums for about three years and was always able to find a fix that another had sucess with. I have absolutely zero formal education or training to repair anything. Completely self taught. Like many here electronics are not my only hobby/interest. I been learning what make things tick (and how to get rid of the tick if needed) since I was about 7. Small engines, cycles, cars, snowmobiles(owned thirty-two vintage sleds in 1986) Current non electronic projects are a 1970's...
