Re: Samsung LN32A550 Backlight Issue
Do you mean the link to the seller? I got my board from e-bay. It came out of a used TV that had gone bad. Sorry for this posting delay. I quit getting notifications on this thread...

Re: Samsung LN32A550 Backlight Issue
Actually just yesterday I was fiddling around on the inverter board and found a fuse I think I missed the first go around of testing. The fuse is quite possibly broke because I can't get a resistance reading across it. I'm not sure where I will find a replacement for it. It's one of the tiny 6.3amp fuses on the lower end of the board (most likely why only the bottom 4 lamps were not working at all). That would be funny if replacing it fixed the issue....

Re: Samsung LN32A550 Backlight Issue
Well the new inverter board fixed the issue. I'll have to test the old board a bit more to see why it was failing. Just thought I would update my situation. Thanks for everyone's help!

Re: Samsung LN32A550 Backlight Issue
I order a new board of the exact same manufacturer and number for $15.99. Should be here mid next week. See you all then.

I had gotten this TV from newegg.com a few years ago. It wasn't a refurbished TV....

Re: Samsung LN32A550 Backlight Issue
Sorry for the short hiatus. I tried the factory reset (the MUTE - 1 - 8 - 2 - PWR worked) but came back the same way it was already.
I can try measuring the FETs...
I don't have replacement capacitors to replace the 6 that are on top of the board so I don't think I'll do that just yet.
I just noticed these marks on my board. I circled them with red on the picture. Could this mean some of those components failed and damaged the board? Or is it just bad manufacturing...I'm really suspecting the inverter...

Is there a factory reset button mash i can do for this lcd? Maybe a setting is bugged out.

Re: Samsung LN32A550 Backlight Issue
I have a basic meter for testing resistance. I was getting about 2.5k ohms on the connectors. Also the tv stays on as is with half the lamps half way on. I did a sniff test for burnt components and it checks out fine....

Re: Samsung LN32A550 Backlight Issue
With all lamps unpluged, the noise persists. I can reconnect them all and see what i dont think it will change....

Re: Samsung LN32A550 Backlight Issue
This is what I just tried. Only the top 4 lamps would light. I also tried it with no lamps and the inverter board still made a static noise from near the middle top of the board....

More information! In the form of pictures...
Also, no capacitors between lamps?...

Re: Samsung LN32A550 Backlight Issue
When looking inside the panel with the lights on, it seemed like two or so light halfway. I'll work on getting some more images of behind the lcd panel today. I was also thinking maybe a shortage of power. The 24 volts might be good but at what wattage or current draw. .not sure i have the instruments to measure that.

Re: Samsung LN32A550 Backlight Issue
LOL yah I noticed that...
What would be the probability that it's the Inverter or CCFLs or Power Supply?...

Interesting information. But I'm not 100% sure what I should do with this or the next step of testing to do.

Re: Samsung LN32A550 Backlight Issue
LN32A550 P3F is the LCD TV I have. I'm pretty sure the CCFL's are straight (took a look after taking the frame off and peeking behind the layers of panels). I believe the lamp return wires are the white connectors on the inverter board. 2 per connector....

Re: Samsung LN32A550 Backlight Issue
Here are pictures of the two boards. If you need better pictures or zooms of portions of the board let me know and I can do that. I can work on getting a shot of the CCFLs only but it's a bit harder to get all the screens off and not damage them (that's more of a personal defect of mine that I like to destroy objects when taking them apart).
If it could be the power supply, what should I test? I tested the volt at the connector to the inverter board and it came out to 24volts. Let me know what you think. Oddly,...
