  • Re: Best budget video card?

Thank you all for your input. It really means a lot.
It looks like I'm going towards the 6670 as per mariushm's advice, since I already have my motherboard and processor picked out, and the card's specs seem to fit best for my needs.
Thanks, man. I'll be sure to PM you if I need some more help with the build.

With nish's suggestion, I think I'll use Sapphire, as the reviews from newegg were top notch for their cards, so I'll give them a whirl.

Gigabyte too seems to have made a nice 6670, so that's always...

  • Re: Best budget video card?

A bit too expensive for my budget...
Any good cards under 80 bucks for an extremely casual gamer?
I apologize for not being quite that specific on price.

  • Best budget video card?

    Hey, all.
In the process of building a pc for myself, and I was wondering-
What's a good budget video card I can stick to?
I'm not a heavy gamer at all, just the occasional TF2 game or Counter Strike.
Or, if you prefer a certain brand, feel free to share.

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

^Well, if they're bulging, you should replace them.
Replace them all if they're a crappy brand. A bit of preventative measure goes a long way.
There are loads of tutorials on the site, and many lists indicating brands of caps you should trust and stay away from. Ya came to the right place, man.

Anyway, hello! I'm not what you would call "certified" or "experienced" in the ways of electronics, but I have been teaching myself component replacement and electric theory over the past few...

  • Re: What do you think the bottleneck is in my system?

Have you considered one of the newer pentium Dual-cores like the g620?
The thing has 3 MB of cache and runs at 2.6, I believe.
Then again, are ya comfortable with replacing yer mobo with an 1155, and getting new memory (I believe you can get 'em all, including the G620 for about $140) for the sake of the new processor?

If not, AMD's a nice route to follow- I like the APU feature of the A3300, myself.

  • Re: Your Best Dumpster Finds

I recently got an old pentium 4 system that my friend was going to toss. Found a nice GeForce 5300 FX AGP card in it, but the fan was busted, so after a quick replacement, it was humming happily in my other P4 machine.
