  • Re: ti-nspire with bad lcd screen

I've tried many methods of restoring LCD screens. I've never attempted to split the glass layers apart because if you do that, the liquid crystal will spread all over the glass, I think. But I have repainted the reflective silver paint on the back of some LCD assemblies.

Btw, no method I tried ever worked so I gave up.

  • Re: electromagnetic field therapy

I didn't read every page of this thread so I don't know if anyone else suggested this for future work. When I have a product that blows ONE fuse at turn on, I grab my light bulb socket and clip it across the fuse holder. Then I put in a 40 to 100W bulb, depending on fuse size (but never more the 100W). Turn on the device and I have extra light while I DVM around the circuit. I also have soldered light bulb socket wires to a blown fuse so I can just snap it into the fuse socket. Same goes for DC, using a large 12V automotive bulb with the two filaments...

They have several of what's called 'Transfer Stations' located around town which are just big public lots with 50 or so dumpsters where everyone goes to dump their trash. One day, backed up to a dumpster and inside were 5 Dell GX series computers with HDDs, Optical drvs, etc. Grabbed 'em. Got them all running a few days later and donated them to a local non-profit.

Also found a Samsung 22" monitor in excellent condition. Looked to me that it had failed early in it's life and the owner...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Lurked for a few days. Have fixed hundreds of computers, but have never reclaimed a mobo with recapping. The two times I tried it, it didn't restore the mobos. Have recapped a Samsung 22" monitor successfully though. Using it now. Since I have the time now, think I'll try it soon. On my own Dell...which surely needs it. Should have the cap kit tomorrow. Fingers crossed since the mobo is working fine.
