    I have one of these LED TVs here.
    The problem is a that the picture quality from an off air signal is not good. Its soft, lacks contrast, and the flesh tones are pink and oversaturated. CGI's are very good and some program content is also good. I'm leaning towards one of the movie or picture settings being off. All TV channels here are now digital or HD digital, no analog TV left. I've reset the picture settings, which did give some improvement, but I think it should be better.

    How much trouble can I get into by doing a factory reset?...

    I don't think I explained that very well. I was looking at the start up resistor R2 on the Seven Team power supply. It goes from the non-isolated side to the switching transistors, which I thought were in the isolated section, but of course they are not.

    This is an interesting project TH3, I want to do something similar, with about the same quality supply. Please keep us up to date.
    Tom and PeteS, I have to say that I'm a bit surprised to see the 220k from the mains live go to the startup cct for the supply. That breaches the "cold" zone by a mains lead into it. I don't think I've seen that before with the driver control in the "cold" zone.
    I wouldn't be surprised if that wire from the 220K was supposed to take a right turn to the collector of Q1. It has after all, got...

    RM801 is a .22ohm 1W resistor. It's in series with the main switching FETS. It sounds like the supply is cycling on and off, often caused by an overload on one or more of the rails. Disconnect each of the rails until the rails remain steady.

    cost me AUD48.05 inc delivery to Oz.
    Yes I did check the bits after I removed them and found that only 1 88N30W was shorted. The other components measured ok.

    The sheet that comes with the kits says that you will need a new upper buffer board as well. That alerted me to check carefully the upper buffer board which is when I found two faulty ic's there....

  • Samsung PS50Q91HD Y-SUS and related

    I am repairing the above model, a 50" Samsung Plasma TV. The symptoms were as you would expect, no picture and chassis goes back to standby shortly after switch-on. I purchased a Y-SUS repair kit and repaired the Y-SUS board. Following advice from a few forums I left out the top Y buffer board and switched on. All seems ok with faint snow on the bottom half of the screen. Checking the upper buffer board revealed 2 faulty 3407F IC's. I removed these, re-fitted the board and could see a picture in the top 1/4 of the screen, then faint snow for the bottom 3/4.

    I'm wondering why...

    Hi to all forum members.
    I'm new to this forum, but not new to component level PCB repair.
    I carried a servicemans toolbox for 20 years, working on consumer electronics, before shifting into the computer field for the next 15 years.
    I'm semi retired now, but fix a few electronics devices to save them from the tip or just because I like them.
    Looking forward to keeping up with trends and repair techniques.
