I'm not sure why I'm so astounded that the internet is helpful, but this is the best thing that's happened to me in awhile. I never realized how much I like this monitor before it wouldn't turn on.

I had a bit of trouble getting the clip to attach. It took me 5 or 6 worrisome tries before the MX25L8006E was detected. I used the binary from the zip in post #3.

FWIW, the SPI EEPROM on my board wasn't completely dead and flashrom (under Ubuntu 20.04) was able to read the contents. There was enough info to notice that the original binary contained source code files from...
