Hello everyone, I've gotten a hold of a Thinkpad W540, and unfortunately it is bios locked. really bummed out how the seller didn't tell me but here we are. I've made dumps of the 2 bios chips (25Q032, 25Q064. 4 mb and 8 mb respectively) and made sure to compare the files. I couldn't patch the 8mb dump as the auto patcher thought it was corrupted or not a correct dump. it did patch the 4 mb dump just fine. i've since then never touched the 8mb chip and just flashed the patched 4 mb dump to the 4mb chip with my CH341a. upon doing this, the laptop was essentially bricked and would not boot up.
