As luck will have it the set has been running fine now for 36 hours, picture is gorgeous corner to corner. I'll have to wait until it takes another spell before troubleshooting further, it might run for days. manipulation of wiring harnesses has no effect, nor does tapping on pcb's. I have changed lamps on laptop displays, are these replaceable too?

Hello everyone, I have been lurking in the shadows for some time and have found a good deal of correct information posted here by some nice folks, I hope to be able to add to the collective wisdom at some point. The problem Sony at hand is throwing a back-light failure code but is terribly intermittent, sometimes occurring in 5 seconds and sometimes not for a day or more. There is no symptom in the picture to suggest that shutdown is about to take place, the screen is uniformly bright, devoid of lines, and is equally responsive in all areas.
