Re: Samsung PS43D450 Plasma - Very strange VS and VA?
OKAY
As long as both of the ribbon cables from the controller board, one going to x-sus and the other y-sus are DISCONNECTED - Vs and Va switch on and stay at rated levels? VS_ON stays high at 3.25v. If either of these ribbon cables are plugged in the Vs and Va dropping levels occur, as does Vs-ON drop to 0v (the psu bounces back after one of these ribbon cables are hotplugged then removed, so im guessing the psu is good)
Faulty Panel or sustains - or buffers? Hell what isnt broken haha!...Last edited by overlord; 09-17-2012, 11:48 PM.

Re: Samsung PS43D450 Plasma - Very strange VS and VA?
Okay little update on man vs plasma
New Controller board, still no real difference on the screen.... but all of a sudden i have sound and full remote control? It seems as if i've fixed SOMETHING at least!
I also remember that i never checked any fuses on y-sus or x-sus, nor where to find them...
Also, Vsc is correct on y-sus, -185v - but something is still cutting Vs and Va, some sort of protection mode for something perhaps?
Any feedback would be helpful
Thanks!...Last edited by overlord; 09-17-2012, 08:20 PM.

Re: Olevia 242TFHD-T11 42" TV Start Up Problem
I'm fairly certian you will be able to remove the back cover off with the plasma upright, but it would most likely be easier with it lying flat. I'm not familiar with this model but the handful ive come across have just been a decent amount of screws to remove.
Can even hang the stand off the edge of the table if you dont want to remove it, while it is lying flat.
I'm fairly certian that you can work on it upright (can help if you want to be able to glance over and see if there is any...

Re: Samsung PS43D450 Plasma - Very strange VS and VA?
In three of the jumper configs above, i get nothing at all on the screen - in one of them i get a decent amount of white-lines-flicker (really fast for maybe a second) and thats it.
I'm thinking its worth the ~$30 of ordering a second hand control board like this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261063334946&fromMakeTrack=true
and even though the part numbers dont match exactly, i think it will be fine...

Re: Samsung PS43D450 Plasma - Very strange VS and VA?
As in when i shut it down or? The unit turns on but does not turn itself off...
edit: got my brother to turn the power off while watching vs_on - went from 0.04mV to 0.00mV...
ninja edit: turning back on again, watching vs_on - it gets to around 3v in sync with the buzz from xsus - then goes to 0 & the buzzing stops...Last edited by overlord; 09-08-2012, 02:08 AM.

Re: Samsung PS43D450 Plasma - Very strange VS and VA?
Another quick look and i did find it, PS-ON is still low, say 0.2v and VS-ON seems to be ~0... this is on the power cable connecting the psu to the smaller board (i think its the T-Con board? still learning this stuff :P ) - that board does have an LED light up on it though...
Thank you so much for the ongoing help so far mate...

Re: Samsung PS43D450 Plasma - Very strange VS and VA?
I can find the control "PS-ON" - and its barely a tenth of a volt when the unit is on - however, the +5v line is around 5.2v, it seems to be the lack of Vs and Va shuts everything down...
Also, the heatsink on the control board (the small one just above the I/Os) does get warm to the touch after running - whereas neither the x-sus nor the y-sus get warm...
edit: i remember reading somewhere that low Vs = dim picture... could an extremely low Vs = no picture? :P...Last edited by overlord; 09-07-2012, 04:51 PM.

Samsung PS43D450 Plasma - Very strange VS and VA?
Hey allFirst post so here we go...
Mananged to get my hand on this TV... has a minor crack on the front but i dont think its deep enough to have broken the panel... hopefully!
The main issue is - there is no picture. Off the person I got it off (on ebay) it apparently had sound but no picture
But in my testing i have had no sound or picture - the red led does come on however...
When I plug power into the back there is a click, and an led flashes on the smaller LVDS board, then there is about half a second of buzz from the X-sustain......
