Re: 2 systems with badcaps - PLEASE HELP!
Old system has a K7S5a Pro with AMD XP2400 (2.2GHz) CPU
The newer system is an Acer Veriton M464 system, E7300 chipset, it was tricky to find out online what the actual make/model was but looking at the MB the numbers I got are
N1996
(WQ79 4659)
MMCP730.IO.RM.MSI LF
Socket LGA 775/ T

Re: 2 systems with badcaps - PLEASE HELP!
I was told to register here and enter the make of the bad CAPS and ask if someone could suggest some specific replacements so i could fix my systems. The CAPS I bought are GP, General Purpose.
The PSU is brand new.
This is the "Identifying Bad Capacitors and Related Symptoms" forum, so I figured this would be the place to ask
Thanx

2 systems with badcaps - PLEASE HELP!
I've had 2 systems suffer the same symptoms: power cutting out/shutting down without warning and failure to boot or reach POST, possibly caused by surges during thunderstorms.
I tried rectifying the problem on the older system by buying an upgraded GPU, and a new PSU, neither helped. I finally realised it must be the MB when there was zero activity when switched on. I looked at the MB and saw quite a few domed CAPS. I bought new ones and replaced them but it changed nothing. I was advised that it might be that the new CAPS I bought were not upto the job. It could be that more need...
