Hi Andy, I had a similar problem and from what you have described - it is a zener diode that is faulty on the power board, you can test if this is the case by either using an analogue multimeter to see if it has continuity in one direction only, if you don't have an analogue multimeter - remove it and re-assemble to test it (only for 20 seconds) no longer than this or will most likely fry the board, if it works after this test you will have to replace the zener diode with one of the same value as it is designed to...
