It ended up being the actual trace inside the circuit board itself. I sold it for parts. Replaceing the caps got rid of the short but the trace was broken too. There was nothing from the 20v fuse to anything. I could have probably wired power to the first mosfet but that would have been ugly. Thanks everyone for the diagnostic help!...

Well thank you sir, I manned up and went to pulling caps today and bingo. It wasn't one of the ones I thought, but it was a capacitor. I think these are maybe resistors? Removed from board and tested I dont even see continuity at all, just an open circuit. However the resistor? In the photo attached was the problem. Removed and no more short! Thank you very much for the wisdom.
So I test for continuity and none means resistor correct? How coud I measure these small SMD resistors and capacitors? Thanks again!...1 Photo

Also, this cap is right above the Fuse labeled Y. Left side. And the green colored oxidized caps are below the CPU on what I think is the VRAM. Also, the picture on the left could show two resistors but they do have continuity so maybe where the failure could be? Take them out and try to power up? Laptop is 2 years old owned by the Ocean. Could this be an issue with the trace, between Fuse Y and first power MOSFET's?2 Photos

Motherboard Help? Motherboard: DABKXMB18B0 REV:B Laptop: Asus FX506LH
In the marked photo with Green and Red dots. Green represents Grounded points. And Red represents where I am getting 20V DC. The Red X is the last two places I get power, seemingly stopping where marked with the Red X. I cannot get any continuity from the Fuse labeled with a Y to anywhere where else (except the surge protector). There are no schematics for this board.
Anyone have any ideas?
I have soldering kit, heat gun and power supply ready to go for any diagnostics. Thanks in advance!3 Photos
