Re: Sony KDL-40S5100
Additional info: the green light is on steady. the white light coming through the holes in the chassis doesn't seem very bright. certainly visible but not extremely bright.

Re: Sony KDL-40S5100
I've got this exact model and getting the same voltages as shadetreetrader11. R6406 is 470 ohms. I jumped BL-ON with a resistor and backlight came on! The screen is still completely black and I can't see anything with a flashlight. I didn't try pulling out Q6704. Thanks in advance for any help.

Yep, you were right. I was using component video output and finally it died - developed lots of horizontal gray lines. Broke down and got a board from ebay ($76) and it's working great. PS - the problem with the TV not coming on turned out to be a loose connector. Thanks again.

Uh, oh. Every once in awhile, the TV fades to black for about a second. Today it went black and wouldn't come back on until I powered off and back on. Still had sound and a faint picture. Looks like the backlights went out. tcon board?

Re: Sharp Aquos LC-70LE650U blink code meanings
Well, 10 days and counting and the TV is still working!I have encountered one problem, though. Went to hook-up my Samsung Blu-ray via HDMI and none of the 4 ports see it. I tried a different cable and another device (a WD-TV box) with no success. Eventually hooked it up via Video-1 input w/o problems. The Tivo is using component video, so I can't use that. Any sugesstions??

I'm uncertain just how to do a reset so I haven't. The manual doesn't clarify things either with passages like: "Before entering the adjustment process mode, the AV position RESET in the video adjustment menu." (pg 5.3). I've put about 15 hours on it and a dozen on/offs since Thurs with no problems. Thanks for your help and the invaluable tool of "holding vol+ and ch- while plugging it in"!!

Re: Sharp Aquos LC-70LE650U blink code meanings
OK, never mind - I was looking at "FB"s - ferrite beads (more learning for me). Anyway, got the new power board. Plugged it in and......same flashes!!!I then tried freakaftr8's "vol+ & ch-" while plugging in the power. Got a steady light this time, no flashes - no pic or sound either. Started pushing buttons and nothing. Finally, just held down the power button for "awhile" and light goes off. Hit power again and IT WORKS! Perfectly working TV. Put the old board back it and it works, too! So, I...

Sharp Aquos LC-70LE650U blink code meanings
A friend of a friend gave me this nearly new, huge 70" TV. His house was hit by lightning and it killed this TV. He said the logo would come the screen and then it would get "fuzzy around the edges" but do nothing else. That's not happening now. When I plug it in, the screen is black and the little chevron on the front flashes. Two longer flashes followed by three short flashes. The only voltage I'm getting out of the p/s is 5v on pin 15 which is marked "5vBU". Does anyone know how to read these flash/blink codes? I put a video up showing the flashes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXxq1pXSFWY...

Re: Odd color pattern on LG 50" Plasma
Thanks for the fast reply. It's not terrible to watch since I'm not a real "videophile" (is that a word?) and I like telling people about my $6 TV. Will probably sell it if the lines get worse. I really appreciate the sage advice I get on this forum.

Odd color pattern on LG 50" Plasma
Picked up a 50" LG 50PY3DF made in Nov 2007 for free at a garage sale (she was glad to see it go!). It had 6 blown caps. Replaced those and it works but, about 80% of the picture is darker than the edges. Any color shows as a few shades darker. Also getting a few vertical red lines. They run from the bottom up. About 6". They mainly show up on blue background. Not on green or black. See pics. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!...

Re: Samsung UN32F6300AFXZA black screen red flashing lights
Thanks for the tips. I've had it on about 4 different times for an hour with no issues. The 'ghost' only appears when the background is white. You hardly notice it with darker colors. I turned down the bl level from 20 (max) to 7. Didn't help with the 'ghost' and the picture still looks good. I may experiment by adding a small shade right above the LED. My goal is not spend any more than the cost of the TV - $5 at a garage sale. Now, if I counted my time, that would be another matter.

Re: Samsung UN32F6300AFXZA black screen red flashing lights
Hey, the TV actually works! For how long, who knows? I replaced the blown LED with one from a broken computer monitor. Works fine, but it's a little brighter and there's a small 'ghost' on the screen. If it plays for a week or so, I will try to find the correct LED. Thanks for all the help....

At least you didn't say: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/images/smilies/lolsign.gif That's OK, I deserve it.
I tested the other four strips with the same PS - but only for about 1-2 seconds. Do you think I caused much/any permanent damage to them? I'd like to know before investing any money in buying a new strip.Re: Samsung UN32F6300AFXZA black scr... I deserve it.

Re: Samsung UN32F6300AFXZA black screen red flashing lights
Budm, I think I read your last post way too late!
Those two devices are connected just like that diagram in my photo. The neg contact point goes to "4E BJ", which is connected to "2 AI", which goes to the pos contact. So, they're not in series with the LEDs. I replaced both of those devices with caps (the smd's on the other four strips all read as caps - the fifth strip had one burned smd and the other read as a diode). Anyway, I hooked up my 24v PS and it worked. THEN, things started going south....
