  • Re: Soldering techniques for flat chip capacitors?

I viewed the video, and that made me more comfortable. However I still have one problem. The Caps I am replacing are top-hat shaped metal cans. I think the lead spacing on the SM Caps is wider.

Has anyone run into this? I feel like the proverbial "square peg, round hole" syndrome is work!

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hi, All

Just joined the forum to get advice on recapping my collection of aging machines.
I ordered a kit over a year ago, and just getting around to working on a Mac IIci.

The caps I got are the Tantalum SM's but I am replacing mostly the old "crap" Chinese "tin hat" types. Appreciate advice from anyone who has done this!

Machines range from original TRS-80, to Apple IIe Platinum, Apple IIc, Mac IIci, Powermacs 150 and G3...
