This one's now sorted.
So, it's had a mosfet & diode.
Took IC9000 chip out (Winbond IC back of main av board) & reflashed it with an spi programmer.
TV fired straight up at this point & I put latest firmware update on using a USB stick.
I have the winbond flash & update files if anybody wants them

Well, this has turned into a strange one... Fault has now changed & maybe Ill have another chance to look again over the next few days..
As it stands now - I turn the tv on & after about 20 minutes it springs into life & works perfectly. It may continue to work fine or it will lose image again after half an hour or so.
I did find out that after this tv was previously 'repaired' it only lasted a month before failing again (mosfet & diode were changed). I kinda assumed...

STBY Voltage is 3.5v on this one.. I'm thinking of the shortcut method to try the backlight (as described in the service manual).. power supply output.. INV_CTL pin 18 shorted to STBY 3.5v pin 9,10,11 or 12 - this should force the screen into life for testing,,, my only concern is that it causes other damage ?! Test meter battery is dying now so readings are sketchy

Yup, crap psu.. to be honest I think all LG, samsung sets are all crap once you get the back off, but hey, thats life - bring back plasma !!!! Anyways, had a chance to look at this some more.. Main power circuits seem ok & I'm getting the 3.5v 12v & 20v at the output socket. NOT getting anything on the INV_CTL pin though, which should be 3.x volts. Tracing at the socket on the main AV board & all the resistors are ok (r8019, r8026, r8032) q8005 is the tiny transistor & I couldn't...

This model is UK LG 42LE5900 (-za) - basically the same guts or at least same PSU as lots of the XXLE5 series 5500 etc. PSU in this one is EAY60803201 (board is customised for this model i.e.. PCB has jumpers that change the pcb parameters & model number etc for other types of screen (notably AUO screen or LG). For the wannabe hackers out there - this one has the highly hackable Broadcom chip on the main AV board
When working this is a pretty good display that can record to hdd, run on your internet connection view all manner of movies & audio aswell as having freeview HD channels....

update... All other parts checked out ok from the list & don't you just hate looking for tiny numbers on pcbs.. or maybe my eyes are just getting old...
So this fix - just the 2 parts - QM801 FQPF5N50C mosfet & CP803 150uf @ 450v capacitor.

Thanks for the tip... I'm pulling each of those parts & testing now - except the MC33067P IC on ICM801. For anybody else tracking this fault, the other parts to check / replace are - QM801 / 802 FQPF5N50C mosfet, DM802 40v 1a diode, DM804 100v 250mA diode sm, RM811 / 813 10 ohm resistor sm, CM801 332k capacitor sm, CP803 450v 150uf electrolytic capacitor.
This applies to psu MK32P5B / BN44-00214A.
In my case I will be halting this job after testing the remaining parts as I'll have to order the mosfet since the only...

..well, tested & now the tv just sits with a blinking red light - responds to remote but doesnt turn on.. further checks revealed another dead part - took both to220s from qm801 & qm802 right behind the big smoothing capacitor - one is dead !!! I'm assuming it was qm801 since thats the one leading straight to the positive side of the capacitor I replaced. My psu schematic states the to220 is 500v 5a - actual part markings - fairchild m h47. fqpf. 5n50c. Part is FQPF5N50C - 500v N-Channel mosfet... now to go look in my spares...

Hi, currently got one of these power supplies in bits.. Had a completely dead 150uf capacitor - yes the big one !! Replaced & tested - gives blinking red light on sammy 28 lcd its in. Further checks reveal all other caps are pretty much bang on stated values (all electrolytic caps on this pcb are samwha branded). Mosfet QB802 has 2 loose pins & looks like its had some massive heat - cooked board glue gone black & crispy - part tag - F H45 D526Y - Fairchild Bipolar NPN Transistors. Alternative to220 is 2sd526. I shall resolder...
