Hi mon2 or mcplslg123 can you share your insights on the measurements from my board? Does it indicate to you whether there is a short on one side or another? Thank you!
Any thoughts on the apparent missing capacitor and it's possible contribution to the source of the problem?mon2...

Laptop stays on for only ~10sec when battery is connected, fine otherwise (Lenovo ThinkBook 15 G4 AMD)
I have a Lenovo ThinkBook 15 G4 AMD (HLXB5 LA-M062P) that, when the battery is connected, starts up and shuts off in about 10 seconds, even when connected to power supply via USB-C charger. When the battery is disconnected, the computer stays on as in normal/expected operation (powered by USB-C charger input). I bought a new battery and see the exact same thing. My conclusion is it is not the battery itself but maybe some circuit or component involved in battery/DC-in crosstalk. I found a schematic but not boardview (request link below - sorry for the formatting, I'm not sure how to...Hi, I have a TB 15 Gen 4 that has an issue with the battery circuits. I believe the schematic is the same as this one: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubleshooting-hardware-devices-and-electronics-theory/troubleshooting-laptops-tablets-and-mobile-devices/schematic-requests-only/3522169-lenovo-thinkbook-14s-yoga-gen2-la-m062p

I understand, thank you!
My summary is attached.
I removed the part and measured resistance to ground on both pads:
1. Upstream pad: 1.5M Ω
2. Downstream pad (connects to IC): more Ω than my multimeter can measure
I discovered that one of the nearest capacitors, closer to the power source, was completely missing. I used hot air to remove the inductor and while this missing capacitor should have been on the other side of the board, it's not right underneath and I wasn't blasting that area with hot air directly, so while it's possible...

mcplslg123mcplslg123 can you explain a little about the logic behind your proposal? I am very new to this but understand the basics of electronic circuits and components. What physically could likely be causing a short here? Malformed...

Request for Lenovo ThinkBook 15 G4 AMD Boardview (HLXB5 LA-M062P)
Hi, I have a TB 15 Gen 4 that has an issue with the battery circuits. I believe the schematic is the same as this one:

I also would be grateful to have the boardview to assist in diagnosing this computer. Thank you!

Success! Thank you!! I didn't get a Lenovo splash screen at all so I started systematically tracking when I started to hold and for how long, and the resulting errors and whatnot. Unfortunately the time it worked I had lost my concentration and didn't get exact times, but it ended up being about starting at 3.5 about seconds after and holding for about 4.5 seconds....

Thanks -The coil you mean is the burned-looking chip, right? PL1301? or PL1302, the bigger one?

MB no turn on, apparent damage but voltage, but none from voltage reg IC - ThinkPad P17 MB NM-C651 - what next?
Hi, I have a ThinkPad P17 motherboard with intel chipset, NM-C651 that appears to not power on.
- No light with DC plugged in, no signal to external monitor connected directly to HDMI on motherboard (no GPU module attached).
- There appears to be damage on a ferrite bead chip (pic here) on the main power rail (20 V), but there is a 20V reading to the in-side, and 15V reading on the out-side. After this chip, the power goes to an IC that I think regulates voltage (NCP81210MNTXG_QFN40, PU1301 in the boardview screenshot here), but I read no voltage on pin 7, nor 11-13.

You're partially correct - I asked questions in the hopes that somebody would provide me an answer. I have read the thread, and in my current state of knowledge, the abbreviated form generally used (which makes assumptions on what is already known) gives me only partial information for which I lack the context, making it more of a task than just reading the incomplete sentences to reach understanding - which I know works for you in this field because you are already familiar with the concepts. Therefore "ALL INFORMATIONS" means something different to you than it does to me. The information...

It would help me understand to have answers to the questions I asked. I am trying to find the information I need to understand Maxpower3's instructions (I am unfamiliar with many of these terms and acronyms and am piecing it together). For example I don't know what you mean by "use a switch" (what is a switch in this context?). If anyone else can help answer my questions I would appreciate the help! Also/alternatively, do you know of a good reference for these things? Like how to translate the boardview to the board.
In the attached pic of the chip and board region, does...

Thanks very much.
Can you help me learn how you knew that is the 0-3 LAD trace? I am just starting to learn to translate board diagrams. In the attached schematic LAD0:3 are labeled K1, J2, J1, H2, and overlapping the trace you marked on the board are the letters "K" and "U2". Are all of the LAD wires bundled together in that trace, or the entire LPC bus? I see that there are many fewer traces on the board than are connections in the diagram.

Hi! I am excited to learn about these chips. Can someone tell me if one of these chips is the embedded controller with the supervisor password stored on it?
This is on a NM-C801 motherboard from a T14 Gen 1 w/AMD Ryzen 7.
ITE IT8300FN
or
ITE IT5261VG-256
Thank you!...
