I found this thread with a google search and realized it had the answer to something bedeviling me for a least a year.

The problem is the same as the other posters, an intermittent (fritzy) display on a Sony A/V receiver. Mine is the STR-DH540 purchased in 2014.

Got tired of tapping the top of the receiver to get it to light up.

A 15-watt Radio Shack pencil soldering iron and a little solder on the affected filaments as described by redwire in post #3 and voila! Much joy.
