  • Re: Technics SA-301 Right Channel problems

If the channel is stopping with a volume increase, it is no likely to be the typical relay problem. A power sequence "fixing" the problem suggests that the spike is temporarily cleaning a connection or something like this. I would initially look for poor solder connections. Once that is completed, use freeze spray to see if a temp change can either cause or fix the probem.

    Post your progress here.

    Thanks,
    Dan

  • Re: JVC RX-6042 5 secs then shuts off

Try turnong the unit on without the output transistors installed at all. Measure each pad to ground and post those voltages here. If the outputs have blown right away, you are probably missing a voltage or have a shorted driver transistor. The voltages present without the outputs installed should provide a clue. If that appears OK, then install the outputs without the center pin connected. This should present the correct voltages WITHOUT any current draw and thus won't blow the outputs.

    Post your progress here.

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

New to this site, but 35 years of electronics repair experience. Nostly concentrated on Audio gear, but have worked on TVs, Plasma sets (from the beginning), broadcast video cameras and associated video gear. Looking to help resolve issues here and keep my skills sharp.

  • Re: JBL Home Cinema Problem - advice?

In all likelyhood there are multiple issues here. Lets start with the remote not working:

Inside the unit shoud be a small silver can that will contain the IR receiver. This should be located near the front of the unit. There should be 3 leads for this part. Try resoldering these leads first. That may resolve the remote problem as these joints are a general issue.

Once that is done, please update this with an accurate description of the original problem that got worse.
