Like Tom66 said sometimes you can remove it, if its due to dirt or moisture getting in there. I wouldn't recommend doing it unless it was really bad, LCD panels are very fragile and its really easy to break them (we know this from experience!). If you don't notice it on most sources and images i'd leave it alone. If it gets worse in the future (to the point you think about buying a new monitor) then it could be worth opening up to see what is...
