Re: Bad Y-buffer, Do I need sustain board also?
Hey guys, thanks for the responses. I respect that I should order all and I figured that would be the optimal thing to do but I don't want to spend $300 on an old TV when I could buy a brand new one of better quality for $750. So I guess I have one more question... Is it possible that the sustain board made the buffer go bad? I would like to order just the buffers (I will order both lower and upper) to see if that fixes the problem but I don't want to hook up my good buffers ($135) and blow them because I have a bad...

Bad Y-buffer, Do I need sustain board also?
Hi, I have a 50" Samsung Plasma TV and, as a lot of samsung plasma owners, my Y-buffer has burned. It is the upper buffer and I know this because I physically see a burned IC in the buffer board. I took the bad buffer out and plugged the TV back in to see if anything happened (I saw a video where a guy said that I could tell if the lower was bad also???) I got a few white flashing lines in the lower portion of the screen and then I felt the IC's they were heated to roughly 90 degrees within seconds so I immediately unplugged the TV.
I am not a technician but I have been repairing...
