Hi,
Any idea how to debug this one? When I turn it on the screen goes blue. I've switched it to a HDMI source and there's sound but no picture, just a lit up screen.
I've replaced the LVDS and two ribbon cables from it (they were both a little charred) but it's the same issue. There's an empty socket on the LVDS board but I can't match it up to anything else so I don't think it's that. Is something not connected? Any ideas?
Pictures attached. Thank you....

Re: Hitachi 32LD6600B speakers always emit low whine
Fixed this in the end. I noticed there was a wire from earth screwed to the main chassis but it wasn't screwed tightly and wobbled a little. Screwing it tighter fixed the problem. This wire was before the PSU board - it came straight off the plug socket.
Now my own problem is that it's a terrible TV in general

Re: Powerline networking (Devolo DLAN 200) not connecting
I'll take it off this afternoon and get back to you. If it is fried, I'm not being overly pessimistic to think that my chances of being able to replace it with a cheap soldering iron are slim, right?
Also I bought a compatible replacement pair yesterday and I've verified that the sending side of the original pair works with the new set but the receiver doesn't, so it is the one I posted pictures of that's blown. (if I can fix it it would still be useful as a spare or for learning)

Re: Hitachi 32LD6600B speakers always emit low whine
Those two capacitors (c877 and c878) are cuboid capacitors - I didn't even realise they were caps if you need more confirmation about how amateur I am. They're MMKP82 but I'm not sure where I can get those from, are those all the same rating? Is there any way to tell if they need replacing without a scope (or a DMM, haha)

Re: Powerline networking (Devolo DLAN 200) not connecting
Thanks for responding. These photos are from the receiver, the bottom of the board is a little dark because I'd have to desolder it to get it out of the casing.

Powerline networking (Devolo DLAN 200) not connecting
Is this the right board? Sorry if not.
I've got a pair of these plugs for ethernet over powerline. Today it stopped working - both plugs power on, both detect ethernet connections, and wireless works on the receiving end. But there's no connection between the two, and the receiver has a smell like a burnt circuit board.
I've opened both sides up but there are no bulged capacitors at either end. There is a fuse on the receiver, but if that was blown would it power on at all? Unfortunately my DMM is broken so I can't easily test the fuse.
Can anyone...

Re: Hitachi 32LD6600B speakers always emit low whine
I got distracted and forgot to check replies. Thanks for the help. The TV stops humming on mute, but any other volume has the same volume hum. I'll check those capacitors again.
As for c877 and c878, are you recommending I should replace those capacitors even if they aren't bulged?

Hitachi 32LD6600B speakers always emit low whine
Hi,
I got this given to "take to the dump" about a year ago because it wouldn't turn on. A few capacitors were blown so I replaced them and it turns on and works, but there's always a low hum coming from the speakers.
I thought I'd try again to fix this. I'm not sure if it was like this before the caps blew or if I'm partially responsible (I'm *very* amateur with electronics, please be gentle). I figured it might be a slight voltage on the earth (?) coming through the speakers so thought maybe I'd shorted it somewhere. I just checked the traces and scraped...

Re: Polaroid 32in LCD FLU-3232 no power
Sorry for taking so long not had chance to look at this recently. Do you mean the paste to the heatsink? There's half a dozen components glued to it, most have three legs.
On another note I've found a replacement board for £25, do you think it's definitely the power board? There's no chance the main board or something else is at fault is there?

Re: Polaroid 32in LCD FLU-3232 no power
Note that I'm not sure which leg is which I can't see it on the side of the cap. I'm getting a positive reading by having black closest to the AC input. I don't know if it's possible that something could be flipping it all around (I'd assume not?) but I just thought I'd make it clear that I don't know which way around it was.

Re: Polaroid 32in LCD FLU-3232 no power
Heh totally just shocked myself. Twice. Matter of time I guess.
The PSU is all connected although there's an annoying VGA type socket under the back plate and I've no way to tell if it connects up. I reseated all the cables but it's the same. Testing 4V DC I get 0.018 touching the back plate only, then 0.010 to 0.012 on any of the pins except 5VSB which gives .416 now.
The big capacitor with black on back plate and meter at 400V DC gives -161V on the side closest to the AC input, and +161V on the other side...
