Bump ...

I need you guys here.

Can I use a High Pulse instead a General Purpose, DC film capacitor ?

I just received them (wasn't able to change my order online).

I'd like to know that before I start and damage the board for good.

Thanks.Re: Capacitor identification ...

That may be my last question for this issue :
High Pulse or General Purpose, DC . ?

@ selldoor : I'll get everything from mouserRe: Capacitor identification ...

OK with for 5%/Js the selection is definitely larger.I'm gonna measure it as you told me selldoor and go for it.

Thanks guys.

Any other advices as what to watch out during soldering or pitfall with the board etc,are always welcome ..."knowledge seeker"

Thanks all.

Are you still getting the 5707s from them?
My goal was to have caps. and trans. ship from the same place.Just to synchronize time.So I kept the 5707s mouser link in case one of you point me to a replacement model for the Capacitor.I'm rookie + a noob so I ain't got no problem ordering parts anywhere. As soon as you, who are knowledgeable, tell me it's risk free.i.e : they'll not use my credit cart number to play with ...

Did you do the physical measurement and leg distance?...

Technical question :
Can I replace a 10% capacitor (K) by a 5% ?

Risks ?

I really struggling to find replacement ones.

When I find one,it either 500 pieces min,12 weeks to wait not in stock,or a different tolerance.

No problem for the C5707 ...

I still searching.In the meantime any contribution's welcome.Tanks.

EDIT : Strangly. For the same model (same manufacturer number, some web sites tag it as 5% others +-10% ?!?)

Can I just buy 2 of them at mouser (caps) ? or they gonna laugh at me ?

Thanks for the knowledge selldoor.
You're right about the model info.

Here :
- the board seems to be a BenQ J18 or CQC ETL 8011.6MM or GCI1V0 SZ (I don't really know what makes sence to you here).
- the monitor is a old Dell 17" model E173 FPb

Is a picture from the top of the board might be useful ?

Thanks Rtech for the detailed answer.

The transistors may well be found on Ebay in smaller quantities
I think I found them on mouser (link above) seems that I can buy them by the piece.
My problem is more for the capacitors.

also you need to resolder all of the 4 yellow transformers,as they were probably the cause of the fault, due to a dry joint.
Wow,now we gonna reach my soldering skills limit (that's a lot of joints for me!).

Do you have the...

Oh and if you can give me a RELIABLE online vendor man,it would be heaven on earth!

EDIT : They seems to be obsolete and hard to find without buying 100 pieces... Just found that.http://www.ttiinc.com/page/search_results.html?step=buyNow&searchTerms=%20MKP1840+Vishay

But boy I'm lost...that definitely not my world...Re: Capacitor identification ...<br ...d hard to find

• Capacitor identification ...

Hi specialistS,
I'm new here.I'm a musician (damn!).But I'm about to try repair my living room monitor and I need a real PRO advice.

I have the infamous "my display won't turn on issue".It happened in the past with another monitor.I was able to fix it myself changing a faulty capacitor (a challenge for simple music maker)

I did my research reading posts, trying to educate myself.I attached what I think is the issue this time.(a burned capacitor/transistor not sure which one so I'm bout to change both).

I attached some pictures.I think...
