Re: 42PFL7422D LG Inverter Modification II v1.2
budm,
If you look at the inverter mod II document SCC_73709 page 13, you'll see arrows pointing to the pads. Are the arrows where the anode gets placed on the pads? They describe: Polarity: band mark position and non polarity: no placing direction. Should I solder the anodes to the pads where the arrows point? I just want to make sure since I don't have a schematic.
Thanks,
electrodog

42PFL7422D LG Inverter Modification II v1.2
I want to install the inverter board mod, but looking at the LG inverter mod II v1.2 pdf, It doesn't seem clear which way to install the zener diodes. Can anyone tell me, are they showing that there is a polarity mark on the board at the pads to install the zeners? I don't want to do it wrong and install them backwards.
Thanks,
electrodog...

Re: 42pfl7422d/37 won't power up
Hi budm,
Do the zeners need to be 5 watts? I don't have a schematic of the inverter boards. I bought some 1 watt zeners, what do you think?

Re: 42pfl7422d/37 won't power up
Thanks Ski Messiah, I ordered some 33v 1 watt leaded zeners from parts express for 39 cents each. I am concerned about the wattage rating for the resistors as the 4.7 ohms to me seems to indicate a current limiting resistor, but I am going to try size 0805 (thanks for the size measurements) and I will use your recommendation of size 0805 for the caps also.
Also I have ordered most of the electrolytic caps to replace the bad caps (Lelon) on my PS and SSB board but one cap that I need, badcaps.net does not have, it's 68uF\450V. size...

Re: 42pfl7422d/37 won't power up
Reference the inverter mod II ,COMPONENT KIT (996500095005) can anyone give me specifics for the surface mount components? I need to know the size (i.e. size 0804,0603, etc) and wattage ratings of the resistors and zener diodes. Part numbers for the zeners would be great, I can get the caps, resistors no problem.
Thanks

Re: 42pfl7422d/37 won't power up
I forgot to say, before I close the set, I WILL do the inverter board mods recommended by BUBM. Also I now have a spare PS board which I will replace the cheap caps and keep as a spare or resell it. Also hopefully I can fix the ssb by replacing the cheap caps. I'm happy that I fixed the set for about $120.00.

Re: 42pfl7422d/37 won't power up
OK everyone, thanks for all the usfull info, the set is now working, It wouldn't let me input the diversity code (last night) so I quit for the night. Today, same thing, so I went to the next step (see attached ssb setup from post #8) and went into service alignment mode (SAM) and it allowed me to change the option codes to match my set. After that, I was able to find in the setup where to change the language to English (it was set to Portuguese by the way). I don't know why the language menu was not available before I set the option codes, but I...

Re: 42pfl7422d/37 won't power up
ok, I tried it again just in case I made a typo, it keeps coming up in spanish. Sorry but I cannot read Spanish, It wants me to continue to setup the TV, I don't want to continue until I get past this point. Thanks appreciated from you or anyone that can get me back on the air!

Re: 42pfl7422d/37 won't power up
OK, the TV power up problem is fixed by replacing the main (SSB) board, everything powers up and I get a display. The new problem, is trying to set up the new SSB board. According to the vendor of the new main board, I have to set it up by inputing the diversity code and option code with the remote as follows:
Turn on the TV. Even if no picture is displayed, enter the correct Screen Diversity Code as follows. With the remote control, enter “062598 Menu” followed by the correct Screen Diversity code. The TV should turn off...

42pfl7422d/37 won't power up
I'm a newbie, and I think I imposed on someone elses thread (afrelientk 42pfl7422d/37 help), sorry because I didn't know how to create a new thread, so now I will recap my problem here. I have a 42pfl7422d/37 no picture no sound. When I turn it on, the relay clicks, the blue power LED comes on but no picture or sound. After about 10 seconds the relay clicks again. Inside on the main board there are I think 2 blinking green LED's, one solid green, and looks like 2 that are not lit. When the relay clicks for the second time, all of the LED's go out. Then after about 20 seconds, the cycle starts...

Re: 42pfl7422d/37 help
Yes, thankyou, I have done a visual inspection of the PS and main board looking for bad caps, burned components etc. As I mentioned, I haven't inspected the inverters, maybe while I'm waiting on my new main board, I'll check the inverter boards. Also, you provided me with an inverter modification II document. Should I assume this is something that needs to be done even if it is not the cause of my failure? What does the inverter mod fix? What is the failure mode that required this fix?

Re: 42pfl7422d/37 help
No, I have not gone that far removing the covers on the inverter boards, but can you tell me, will that cause the symptoms as I have described (no picture and no sound)? From what I have read so far, a bad inverter usually manisfests symptoms of no picture, but the audio is ok. Correct me if I am wrong, thanks.

I'm a newbie, so I don't know if I'm posting this in the correct place, but here goes. I have a 42pfl7422d/37 no picture no sound. Inside on the main board there are I think 2 blinking green LED's, one solid green, and looks like 2 that are not lit. When the relay clicks for the second time, all of the LED's go out.
