A replacement power supply should be a good starting point?

The LED is amber when off. It's white when it's on.
The power button on the unit, nor on the remote will power it on unless I do a power cable disconnect, and then within 3 seconds of plugging it back in, press the side panel power button.
Oh yeah, one more thing I left out, sorry about that.
I have to hold the power button for at least 4 seconds before it starts up.
The TV works perfectly once you get it on....

Re: Vizio VW42LHDTV10A, no power on, unless power plug pulled.
Couldn't find anything other than the User Manual on Vizio's website.
It does have a service port though, no USB port.
If I plug the power cable in and do not press the power button before 3 seconds pass, it will not start up. Plug power in, press tv power button before 3 seconds or I have to repeat.
Quite odd.

Yep, did that."
That was one of my first guesses. I cleaned the remote and cleaned the unit power button assembly. They were clean to begin with, but I did them anyway.
I'm led to believe it's the power supply. Aren't they dual purpose? Stand by and power on?
Maybe the stand-by function is shot.

Vizio VW42LHDTV10A, no power on, unless power plug pulled.
Hi guys!
Glad I found this site! A lot of great info here!
I have a 42" LCD Vizio TV, model #VW42L HDTV10A.
It has recently developed a weird problem.
It will not turn on with the remote control or the side panel power button. The only way I can get this TV to turn on, is by pulling the power cable, re-inserting it and simultaneously pressing the side panel power button. After it is on, it operates in, every way...normal.
The remote will power it off, but not turn it on.
Does this sound like a power supply issue or a main board?
