Re: Procedure to install new A Main Board in Sony
Let me pose this question...
The training manual tells me that there should be 12V on pin 13, and 3.3V on pin 7. When I use my multimeter to measure these voltages, I get 11.68 or something...same with the other.
Should I read EXACTLY 12V and 3.3V? Or just in the neighborhood? Don't know if my meter is just off a little, or maybe the Power board is not functioning properly?
Thanks.

Re: Procedure to install new A Main Board in Sony
I have a training manual...not sure if it is the same.
I will check your link to service manuals. There is a description in the back of my manual under "service mode item descriptions"...this is sort of what my TV is doing
Aging Mode:
This item can be activate to alleviate any LCD image retention
issues. When turned ON the TV will continously cycle through display
red, green, blue, and white rasters.
Not sure how to turn this off, or change it....

Procedure to install new A Main Board in Sony
I've gone through quite a few posts and whatnot. Have decided to try and replace the A (Main) board on a Sony KDL-46S4100.
What I'd like to know... is there a correct "procedure" when installing a new main board? An order of some sort? Do you have to reassemble the TV all the way, or can you just plug in the board and try it out?
I've plugged in all the connectors and it powers up, but no picture, menu, nothing.
If I unplug CN303 with is BL-ON, the backlight comes on, and it cycles through a full screen of just Green, then Blue, then Red,...

Re: Sony KDL46S4100 backlight not working
appreciate the offer...but I already sent it back. Found the correct board somewhere else (hopefully, if they send what I ordered). Cheaper, too.
I am a firm believer that the simplest explanation is the solution. I have a damaged Main Board from a water. No other damage is apparent. The correct main board should heal the TV. :-)

Re: Sony KDL46S4100 backlight not working
no...the old board did not cycle anything. With the CN303 plugged in, the screen was dark. Unplugging CN303 on the old board would bring up the backlight, but not any color cycling.

Re: Sony KDL46S4100 backlight not working
yeah...it can definitely create a picture of some sort. The main board was damaged from a small water leak. just a few drops, but enough to foul several components.
I bought a new main board online...TSM electronics or something. Anyway, the cycling RGB occurred with the new board. But upon further inspection, I think they sent me the wrong part.
I've since sent it back, and hope to have the correct board sometime next week. Hopefully that will get it back to working.

nope, no blinking LED.
Not sure how to check the inverter board. I'll need to look that up.

Sony KDL46S4100 backlight not working
This TV was given to me by my brother. It quit working on him one day, and he just went and bought a new one.
I've searched and researched quite a bit so far. I decided to go for it and try a new main A board.
With it all hooked up, still no picture. I turn the TV on, and the green power light is solid.
If I unplug CN303 with the power on, the TV cycles through a green screen, a blue screen, a red screen, and then a striped screen. The striped screen is one quarter red horizontally, one quarter blue, one quarter green, and one quarter gray.
