Re: Can someone help me find this component so I can get my fan working on this HD 79
I soldered the 2N3904 Surface mount transistor on and all the fan does is twitch. It never did twitch so it tells me that maybe the transistor is not allowing enough current perhaps? I did solder it twice with 2 different transistors to make sure I didn't mess up. Both same outcome.

Re: Can someone help me find this component so I can get my fan working on this HD 79
Found one:
Looks like the collector isn't in the center on the regular transistors like they are on the surface mount. I will have to either have it stand straight up or lay it sideways to make it work. I may just wait for the surface mount transistors to arrive but it still maybe easier to solder the regular one on due to the longer leads.

Re: Can someone help me find this component so I can get my fan working on this HD 79
The rest of the components are in tact. This was knocked off by someone who was a little rough at uninstallation. I located almost every single component on the board, everything else is definitely still there.

Re: Chipped mosfet on P8Z77-V
I did send pictures over to Amazon. It has a damaged ram slot and a scratched trace, not past the protective layer luckily. The damaged RAM slot pins are good still so it may work, if not then it will be a 2 slot mobo I guess. The CPU pins are fine and everything else seems to be in good shape. Amazon did refund me 50% of my money because of the issues so I got the board for $46.00. If it turns out to be fully functional then it's a win for me.
I wouldn't recommend open box boards from Amazon at all. I ordered 3 and the first...Last edited by Rob; 05-22-2013, 01:40 PM.

If you think it won't cause issues I will certainly give it a shot. I just want to make sure it won't damage the motherboard.

Chipped mosfet on P8Z77-V
Hi all,
Long time no see
I have a question regarding a mosfet I received on an open box P8Z77-V. The surface is chipped on the top. Could this cause trouble to the motherboard?

Re: Subwoofer Power Supply Problem
The amp will get warm to the touch because it is conducting heat through the plate. Since it is a sealed unit, that plate also helps dissipate the heat.
Since you are using 105c low ESR caps, they should not blow because if overheating issues like the 85c have blown. I have a Yamaha sub that does the same thing. It should only heat up when you are playing music and pushing watts out of the sub....

Re: Recap a single bad cap?
I see only a 20 pin power supply in one of those pics which means it could be old. I would check to see if any caps are bad in the power supply which may be causing excessive stress and heat to the mainboard.

Re: Just got a Foxconn board - Thought I'd Share
I would have to say.. the board booted with no problems out of the Box with an Athlon 64 LE 2.6ghz. I slapped WinXP home in it and its flawless. From the quality standpoint, its definitely better than ECS. The solder points are not sloppy and the temperature and voltage readouts actually work LOL. Even has extensive OCing options in the bios.

Re: Just got a Foxconn board - Thought I'd Share
My 17" Princeton LCD monitor is almost 5 years old and it has all Evercons inside it.. Gets pretty toasty and the caps are still good! I guess this board may hold up with adequate airflow. I am not going to recap this board for 3 smaller value caps. I much rather see Osts because all of my current Biostar motherboards have OSTs and never an issue with adequate airflow.Last edited by Rob; 01-29-2009, 10:45 AM.

Just got a Foxconn board - Thought I'd Share
Foxconn M61PMV Has Panasonics by the VRM, everywhere else has Rubycons except for the PCI express slot.. has 3 Evercons... WTH?! Evercon LZ 470uf 16v.
If your gonna put almost all good caps on a motherboard.. Why skimp anywhere else... Jeez

Re: Fixed: Shuttle XPC Power Supply by ACHME
The +12v rail on my shuttle PC is 11.24V and that is how it was when I bought it. Somehow I think it conserves power since it is an Active PFC power supply.

Re: shuttle xpc ss59g 2.0 blown ost and g-luxon everywhere.
Even though those are known bad caps... I still don't believe the Caps were the problem why every one vented. Had to be bad airflow and those cases are known for that. I bet the CapXons in the power supply are toasted as well which may of caused the board to be stressed too.
