Re: Samsung LN46A750R1FXZA Possible Bad Panel Or T-Con
I realize this is an old thread but i wanted to update it with some new information in case someone runs into a similar problem.
I did scrap the tv and sold the parts on ebay. I did plainly list them for parts or repair at a deeply reduced price since i could not confirm the diagnosis. Based solely on the response the buyer left me in feedback the board was bad. I ask him for more info but he would not respond.
While this is not a concrete answer i hope it will help someone in the future.

Re: Samsung LN46A750R1FXZA Possible Bad Panel Or T-Con
Could that cause the occasional "mode not supported" error when trying to use the HDMI connections. I guess that is the one that is throwing me off the most. Seems like its the TVs way of saying i don't know what to do with this signal....

Re: Samsung LN46A750R1FXZA Possible Bad Panel Or T-Con
First of all Tom66 Thank you for your input. It is greatly appreciated. I have learned a lot from your post on this site. I have some more information. Do you still think it is a bad panel? I only ask not to second guess you but because i intend to part the tv out and don't want to risk selling a part i think is probably bad.
Secondly. I realize its been a couple months since i have been able to update this thread but i have had some more time to work on this set and have seen some strange behavior. I would like...

Re: Samsung LN46A750R1FXZA Possible Bad Panel Or T-Con
Just a quick update. I haven't had time to take the tv apart again but i did go over my pictures closely and didnt see any swollen caps. But hopefully tomorrow i will get it back apart and look closer once one. I am starting to sway my thinking away from the panel to something signal related. It is still bothering me that the hdmi ports didnt work.

johnboy1313
I have had the set open. I took that picture when i first got the tv. I did take it apart about 3 weeks ago and i took pictures of all the boards. I will go back and review those pictures. I did look at the caps and didnt see any swelled but i will look again.
Glitcher
Here is where it gets strange. So i could take a picture plugged the tv up back up and hooked my dvd player up to it. Initially...Last edited by jpruett79; 10-22-2013, 03:18 PM.

Samsung LN46A750R1FXZA Possible Bad Panel Or T-Con
Hey Everybody
I'm looking for opinions on what could be wrong with this TV. From my limited experiences i believe that the most likely cause could be the panel or maybe the T-con board. I initially started to order a t-con to rule out the problem but the ones i have found have been priced higher than i want to pay without a second opinion. I would also like to rule out possible problems in the even i part the TV out. I would hate to sell a bad board to someone.
I have looked over all of the boards and haven't found any swollen caps or burn marks. I have not checked...

How hard is it to sell backlight assemblies
A couple days ago I picked up a bunch of broken tvs from a retailers. about half of them have bad panels. My intentions are to use them for parts to fix the others and sell what parts I don't need. The sizes range from 32 to 46. My question is if its worth trying to sell the gutted tvs online for the backlights. I know the shipping cost would keep me from making much money but it would keep the lamps out of the landfill and keep me from having to pay the fees to dispose of them.
I haven't been doing this long so i thought i would ask the ones that have been doing it a while.

Re: Samsung PN43D440A5D No display Has Sound
Thats good info. Thank you. I downloaded the firmware update. I tried installing in on the new TV i purchased as a precaution but it is a newer firmware version than what that have provided for download.
I should have the parts to put back in the problem TV on Monday or Tuesday. i will update the firmware on it then. I do wonder if that is what caused the first new board i put in the TV to fail.
Thank you.
I must say i will be glad to have this repair behind me. It has driven me nuts.

Re: Samsung PN43D440A5D No display Has Sound
Turns out i had just gotten ahold of some bad parts. Stumbled on another TV just like this one so i was able to swap some parts. changed the sustains and the tv seemed to work fine. I didn't let it run very long though. I have new used parts on the way. Just a reminder that you have be very careful with ebay parts.
Thanks to tom66 for all the help.

Re: Samsung PN43D440A5D No display Has Sound
What are my chances that this is a bad panel. I have never suspected the panel but it is being suggested by the ebay seller who sold me some of the parts. I believe he is just trying to defend his parts but there could be some truth in his suggestion.

Re: Samsung PN43D440A5D No display Has Sound
Well as of now it will come on but the display doesn't come up at all. so whatever the problem is it has gotten worse.
I don't recall any switching when the display would shut off. I would just turn around and it be off.
I feel like it is just a problem with one of the two boards i changed. One of the boards i changed is a little different from what was originally on the tv. All the numbers match but the revision is different and newer. I may start there.

Re: Samsung PN43D440A5D No display Has Sound
Thank you for your reply. I didn't know about the service menu. And think about the demo mode.
Incase someone finds this later looking for help
This TV was a little different in getting to the menu. i had to enter menu, mute 1 8 2 then power.
I did go into the service menu and preform a factory reset. The tv was in store demo mode. While i suspect that will fix the picture reverting to dynamic it did not fix the picture going out. I will test the dynamic changes once the TV cools. Whatever the problem...
