  • Compaq HP CQ58-251SL - damaged component

    Hello!
I found a missing component in this motherboard, is the RB16 near USB port, seeing the board from top in the notebook, at the left side. The port is dead, can anyone tell me the resistor value? I found a piece of resistor starting with "10", but I can't say if it was a 10, 100, 1K or other values. The board layout seems to be common with other CQ58 model, but I can't find the schematic or an hi-res pic...
    Thanks a lot!

  • Re: Plis, need dv4-5000 schematics

Hello. Probably you haven't specified the right model. The only schematic related to DV4 seems to be by Compal, not Quanta. You have to specify the complete model of your laptop, the processor type (AMD? Intel?) and some other parameters.

  • ASUS X53SV-SX239V I7 (board K53SV rev 2.3): BIOS dimension

    Hello.
This notebook is completely dead and I haven't found any hardware issue. I would try to flash the SPI BIOS directly desoldering the chip from the board and burning with my programmer.
I'm searching the BIOS file for this notebook (dead, not power on), but every file I've found has a dimension of 2560Kb. Since the BIOS is contained in a Windbond 25V032 SPI memory, so BIOS file is 4096Kb I'm in doubt on how to work in this situation...
I haven't found any other memory in the board, so the only flash is the 25V032...
Comparing the files (original and downloaded...

  • Re: HP DV6 6C65el (MB Winstron 48.4RH09.021): split BIOS file to direct flash

Thanks a lot ala_borbe! In the HP_TOOLS partition of the notebook there's already a folder BIOSUpdate with the bin file which I think is the original version. Do you think that comparing the bin file with each one of the file contained in the archive from HP I can realize which version I have to flash of the files your provided?
Moreover, what can I use to split future BIOS in Main and EC file?
I tryied PhoenixTool (which works also with Insyde EFI BIOS), but seems a little more complicated...

  • HP DV6 6C65el (MB Winstron 48.4RH09.021): split BIOS file to direct flash

Hello. This notebook arrived dead. Tryied to reflash the SPI eprom with files of SIMILAR motherboard and it turned to life. Now I tryied to update BIOS downloading it from HP site, but the executable says "this bios is not for your computer" (I guess it depends by the current BIOS not perfectly compatible with the board..).
I'm thinking to desolder the chips and reflash it with my programmer with the correct files, but the file provided by HP is a merged file containing either main bios and EC bios, and I haven't found the separated files for my model.
    So I need help: can...
