Re: Post your Samsung NU model series backlight failures and diffuser melt-downs here
I use a dremel cutting wheel to gently grind away the burnt spots on the edge of the diffuser. Nothing can be done if it's cracked, but it doesn't look too bad considering how dark these sets are to begin with.

Thanks for this information, Nick...I've had one of the 470's in my shop for a while now, & almost bought a NAND from Coppell, simply because he states that it will fix the constant orange logo flash reboot cycle. Sadly for the 110+ customers that fell for his misinformation, this does not work. I reflowed the main IC, and it's now working. BTW, this is Marc, in Cincinnati, we've done business before....

Re: Toshiba 32AV502R green blinking LED
Excellent fix...Old diode did not check bad, even with my Heathkit 2032 component tracer (50v 30Hz) but now works with new IN4148 ...

Re: RCA 42LA45RQ no backlights, bodged cap replacement on PSU
I've discovered that one of the transformers is what destroys the 15pF caps. The set may work again for a while, until the new cap fails again, or the transformer gets worse, then the backlight will either be very dim, or simply shut down. You should notice the failed transformer running very hot.

Re: Vizio VO47LFHDTV30A Dead Set
In reference to the Delta power supply DPS280LP with the open R908 smd resistor in the standby 5V circuit, according to Fuji Electric's PDF on the Regulator controller IC FA5571, two example circuits show it as 22 Ohms. It worked for me!!

Re: Sony KDL-46Z4100 distorted image with green vertical lines
Hello folks...don't post here much, but have found some good tips over time so I reckon I'll contribute...I looked at the image from the Sony BT2 board, usually the regulators on the board short out, & no picture appears. If you have a voltmeter, check the voltages just to the left of the "BT2" stamped on the board...the top should be 3.3v & the bottom, (Cayenne-T) 1.0v. The other two about 1.9v I believe. Don't run the board long without heat shield in place or else....

Re: vizio amber light E321VL
Hello ppl...just joined the forum after reading this thread, just fixed an E421VO with the same problem as the 32 and 37 inch models. I used a heat gun and slowly raised the temp of U48 which looks like a ram chip, with the pins underneath the ic...this is where the solder paste and ir reflow equipment is a must, as you cannot access the pins with standard equipment...if you get the ic hot enough (not too hot!) the ic will reflow itself. So far it works, but will time test it before I reassemble.
