  • Re: Simeple ACF TAB/COF bonding pressure?

Sorry for spamming my own thread here but I went over to reddir r/askmath and they did the math and figured up that 2 Mpa spread over an area of 2mm x 45 mm is about 40.5 lbs of force.

Ill paste the math here so anyone else can find it easy.

    and

so looks like it is not that much pressure at all and I will be able to easily manage this with my modified lever style hot bar press.

Still not sure if I want to make my own head or order a thermode and...

  • Re: Simeple ACF TAB/COF bonding pressure?

Well I have figured everything out except for how much actual pressure to apply.

I have gotten me a lever style press from my uncle, borrowed my dads wire welder.

Make a block that has a head that comes down to a small area (2-3mm x 45-50mm) and make sure the bottom is as flat as possible. I will drill a hole through the width of the head and then tap some threads on each side to connect some tubing for CO2 for cooling quickly. Then attach my thermocouple and the heatplate to it.

    Attaching the...

  • Re: Simeple ACF TAB/COF bonding pressure?

I was able to source a lever press from my uncle who worked on jewelry. There is plenty of room to for it to reach the PCB and if needed the LCD too. It has a heavy duty steel construction and has a single rod that presses down.

I think I can buy a smaller heat plate. Then weld me a plate on the bottom of the rod. I will polish the bottom of the plate so it is perfectly smooth and flat as possible then mount the heat plate on the plate I welded on the bottom of the rod.

What I'm trying to figure out is how to...

  • Simeple ACF TAB/COF bonding pressure?

I have came up with a design in my head for a lever action hot bar press. You can buy a lever style press and modify it slightly to easily achieve a lot of downwards force. You can use a scale to calibrate what lb force any certain position of the lever.

But what I am trying to figure out is this - the ACF that I am debating buying is rated for 2 Mpa at ~200C for 20 secs. When converting Mpa to PSI I get around 290-300 PSI.

The head of the machine, the hot bar, will have a much smaller area than square inches. So my question is if you have a hot bar head that has an area...

  • Re: Sony XBR-65X900C - water in behind the lcd

Sorry for spamming this thread, but I think I may have figured out how to disassemble the panel itself. It looks like that on the back of the set, there is an adhesive sheet that goes all the way to the edges of the top and each side to the edge of the "bezel". The bezel isn't very wide, maybe 1/4" or .25", so I would assume the maybe I can take some heat and an exacto knife and peel this adhesive layer back enough to free up the diffuser panel and remove it. I am thinking about videoing this as well because there...

Looks like there is not a USA based seller for this 2.0 mm acf tape/adhesive. Is there anyone in the USA that has some that can ship it to me? I don't need but about 12". Will gladly pay more than its worth. I'm not even going to attempt to put a wedge of some sort in there because I know that will fail quickly because of how the frame is designed. There is no good way to press against the cof and have it stay in place during reassembly. If it comes down to it I will try to solder it, but this acf tape looks to be pretty easy to...

  • Re: Sony XBR-65X900C - water in behind the lcd

After ripping the tab bond over half way off of the driver board, I stopped because I ripped it off when my hand slipped and hit it. I still do not know how to disassemble the actual panel.

Does anyone know how to remove the lcd? The diffuser panel seems to have a huge sheet of thick adhesive tape that wraps around something. I cannot see having to peel all of this tape back. At the bottom on the panel, with the screen laying face down, I can lift up the thick diffuser panel that illuminates the lcd and I can see the fluid...

Well I ripped a tab bond half way off. It looks like its just tape adhesive or glued on there, can I just reheat it and apply pressure till it cools?

Does the lcd just slide out from the bottom? The way this thing was assembled is blowing my mind. Any help sure would be appreciated! Thanks

  • Sony XBR-65X900C - water in behind the lcd

I have a Sony Bravia XBR-65X900C ultra thin android tv and I have some kind of fluid in behind the screen. I need to disassemble the panel housing to get at the diffuser panels to clean and dry them and to clean the back of the LCD and dry it as well. I will also clean and dry the inside of the LCD panel housing while I am in there and make sure there is no more fluid. When viewing the tv, you can see spots where there is fluid. I am not positive how it got fluid in the panel, I just know I need to disassemble it and clean and dry everything.

Is it possible to tear it apart and clean...

Howdy, just hoping my other question didn't get skimmed past. If I do find another eeprom, will I need to flash it or will it need flashing? Will I be able to just solder on there without flashing it first? Any insight is very much appreciated

hmmm, where could I get another epprom for this board? Because I am positive it is going to be this because I am not even getting sound on any input with the volume maxed out blairing metallica lol

so to me, its like it is not booting up all the way to begin with. I think the tcon and panel itself is fine. And I do not really have the extra cash to throw 140 bucks to a reputable parts dealer for another main board. And if I can try a 5 dollar part I would much rather do that first than to spend money and time trying to...

disconnected one cable at a time from in between the tcon and display buffer. once i disconnected the first side and powered on the tv the screen displayed white and then i unplugged the tv and connected that side back and disconnected the other side and it was white as well. so looks like the tcon is good then? and also it looks like the display is working as well since the pixels are letting the backlight shine through unobstructed? thanks for the help this far. to me it sounds like a main board issue but would like to see what you...

i have the remote and spammed the volume up and external audio hooked up and i have tried optical out as well. no sound what so ever on any physical input i manually plug the cables to. couple this with the problem of being able to turn it on but not off leads me to think this is a main board issue. the main board controls signals for audio and video. the main board sends data to the tcon in which the tcon updates the screen if the tcon is not getting a signal then it will not work either way. also the main board processes the audio...

sounds good. but i wonder if i am also not able to get any sound out of any output would that point towards the main board? also i am not sure if you seen the message where i can turn it on with the remote or button on the tv, but i can not turn it off with the remote or the button on the tv. and it turns itself off after a few mins

also the back lights work fine. i can see them light up and work until the tv turns back off on its own. i cannot turn the tv back off with the remote or button on the tv though....

just a quick follow up, i just tried plugging in an external audio, i still get no audio at all. also after turning the tv on with the remote or the button on the tv i cannot turn it back of with either the remote or the button on the tv. but the tv will turn itself off after a few mins (2-3 mins) by itself

sounds to me like a main board issue but i would love to hear anyone elses opinion on it. again thanks in advance

  • Samsung UN60H6350 No picture

howdy, i have came across a samsung un60h6450 from a friend of mine who i trade and barter electronics with. the tv seems to be in great condition and i just wanted to ask a few questions before i remove the back from the tv.

when turning the tv on, it seems to power up, the standby led goes from a solid state to blinking. not long after the standby led starts blinking the backlights will come on and stay on. then the standby stops blinking and goes away. so it seems like it boots up fine. but there is no logo displayed or any menu or anything. just a black screen with the backlights...

as far as i know, it was a ladys fathers television, he passed away a few years back and the tv has never worked for her, so i am assuming the tv messed up while still in her fathers possesion when he was alive and it has sat for a few years in storage. she said they had to clear the house out and they just stored it. so i am unsure if it was hit by lightning or some component failed or what. i will check those measurements asap, im slightly new to diagnosing and repairing televisions so you will have to have...
