Hi gents, I appreciate what you are saying re: the equipment I am using but honestly for all of the use it would get, buying extra equipment isn't an option.

I'm here for sincere help, so please, quips like "blah...he needs to spend no money" and smart arsery as such......don't bother.

Now, I dropped the meter to the DC setting and I say the same behaviour albeit with power values of 5 ish volts.

So, if the top pin maintains steady voltage and the bottom fluctuates, we are saying the it...

OK, so I took my little (cheap) multi meter to the ir receiver last night.

I found that the middle leg of the IR receiver component seemed to be earth, correct me if I am wrong.

So, I set my multi meter to 200v ~ which I am assuming is AC?

OK, with black in the centre pin and red on the top pin, I saw about 11.4 v with no change upon the remote being pressed

With black on the centre pin and red on the bottom pin, I saw 11.4 again which dropped to 8/9 when the remote was pressed

    ...

    Hi,

OK, dropped a few pics here for you to see, sorry if they are huge. Still getting to grips with a cyanogenmod touch pad.

The original failure was that the remote wouldn't turn the volume down, that's all. This is what made me originally think that it was a remote issue. Common sense would have suggested that at that stage, I look at the ir sender in front of a camera to see if there was an output but I didn't do that I'm afraid.

However, all remote functions seem to be putting a signal out right now...

  • JBL Home Cinema Problem - advice?

Hey everyone, hope you are all good.

All i seem to do here is bring problems

Ok, i have a lovely but old JBL ESC333 home cinema system that I had retired as it developed a fault bt upon replacing it with an Onkyo HTX22-HDX, I realised that i am going to struggle to get the thunder that this produces without some serious outlay. The Onkyo was quite simply, limp in comparison. I mean this JBL thing would remove your lungs at 20 paces

So, Onkyo duly sold on, I am setting out to fix the brute. hopefully with your help team.

    So, the initial...

    Hi buddy,

    No, I havent checked anything.

As i say, I am an electronics......well, nothing.....lol......i didnt even know that was a fuse....but i am game for a try.

All i have at my disposal is a cheap multimeter, its done me so far.

Can you offer some guidance as to how and what to check?

The ohms settings on my meter only cover 2000k, 200k, 20k, 2000 and 200.

    Am i talking utter gibberish?

    lol

    Regards
    Andy

  • Philips Freevents puked on, not charging

    Hi everyone,

New member with a problematic laptop

History is the laptop was puked on by our baby daughter. It was immediately turned off, battery removed and placed upside down to get the boke out.

I then pulled the laptop to bits (had done this a few times already) and any surplus boke removed. None seemed to be on the mobo or other electronics. Keyboard took the brunt of it.

Anyhoo, once dried all was reassembled, connected to power and booted successfully.

    I then put it away

Now, a few weeks later I booted...
